You don't need a mullet to drive a Stang.

We All Know The Mustang Was The First Pony Car,and Outlasted The Camaro. I Have Personally Owned 2 Of Each. The Camaro/firebirds Always Have Had A Potent Engine, but They Just Don't Seem To Have The Personality That The Mustang Has,which Is Probably Why The Sales Dropped Off To The Point Of G.m. Cancelling Their Production. It's To Bad The Gto Also Lack's Any Classic Musclecar Resemblance. The Gto's Huge Engine Will Not Help It Beat The 05 Mustang Sales. We All Need To Focus Our Energy Into Preserving The American Rear Wheel Drive V8 Muscle Car And To Make The Ricers Envy Us!

It was the insurance rates on them which made them unpopular and caused to drop off.

I've had one Firebird (a 455c.i., 4-speed, that I remember fondly; and a Corvette, which was just o.k.) and FOUR, count em, FOUR, Mustangs. Guess which I like better? The Camaro became a less handsome car in the third generation, and certainly less comfortable in the interior. And, yes, I am aware that they came with more horsepower and torque straight out of the factory. But so what? I can mod my Mustang and have fun while doing it! And just look at the lines of the Mustang versus those not-nearly-as-good-looking-car Chevys! For me, it was an easy choice in recent years.

I wish Ford had given us the option of a 5.4 four valve to kick their butt's with.

couldn't of said it much better! Fords quality had improved,The Camaro/birds quality seemed to get cheap with not very distinct body lines. I also believe it can be fun doing a little shopping and customizing are cars to compete with them. The Mustang and the camaro owners have always had a grudge match and thats what makes it kind of fun for some of us. My friends wifes trans-am is faster than my mustang, but I would rather be out in my car on a nice summer day with the top down. I do miss the times when a person could order a car with more than 2 or 3 engine options.

My 1st car was a Pontiac T/A. It was great for the 1st few years. Loved the exhaust note. But after things started falling off and those heavy doors would never stay aligned :icon_puke , I traded it for a 5.0 and never looked back. The fit & finsih were twice as good as any GM product I ever owned.

I switched to a 89 formula 350 from my usual mustang love!!. I was at a light and a girl pulled up next to me in the car, it had a forsale sign on it. we took off racing and she just pulled away, Automatic and all. first gear in the r700s is lower than my world class. She spanked me. I pulled up @ the gas station and talked it over, Looked under the hood and all that was done was SLP runners, Underdrive kit, and a $1100 full SLP exhuast, long tube headers and all. merging to a 3 1/2 inch pipe, to a single flowmaster splitting off to 2 1/2 inch pipes coming out on the same side. Plus she had 3.90 gear swap. The car ran 12.96s N/A, she showed me the slip. I had a 88 Notchback, Light mods. I sold my mustang to my brother, The deal was almost done days before. I ended up putting a 8 port NOS fogger system on the firebird, 250 horse max, but i only use to run 150 horse through it. 11.46 leaving it in drive and running Mickey Thompson P315/40/16s competitor street tires. Killer tires, and they werent even Drag radials. A couple mustangs at the track back in 1992 were running turbos, I was tired of filling bottles. Someone down there destroyed their mustang, and had a brand new Cartech intercooled single turbo system for sale. He gave it away for $2200!!! I sold my Firebird at a loss to buy a mustang. Honestly, the camaros and firebirds and transams were faster and handled better than mustangs, But were expensive as hell to work on. But id still take a mustang as my first love. |
