9007 bulb is a low and high bulb so if you convert our cars, you need to go to a bi-xenon projector setup, or else you lose your high beams.

so, i was able to make some adjustments to the projector setup.. it looks a lot Better.... but definitely look into the GEN3 projectors. when you setup an HID kit, you do not necessarily need a bi-xenon setup.. the apc projectors use 9005 and 9006 bulbs.. trust me, you do not want that much damn light or hassle of bi-xenon... I'll try and post some pics of my fog, HID and high beams from inside the car.. I've included a few HID basics, and some of my paintbrush skills.. haha

a few basics:

1. EBAY- look for a German made kit- HELLA, or Philips ballasts (stay away from the Japanese kits that offer a separate starter/ igniter unit.. if you can find BMW/ Audi units, that's cool too (200-400$)

2. you can buy different size/ style bulbs from auto direct save, i put the website on here earlier.... for about 100$ 4k 6k or 8k http://www.autodirectsave.com/hid-kits.asp

3. buy a cheap set of fog lights that come with a wiring harness, use that harness to setup your HID lights.. (if you try to run them directly from your stock wire harness/ headlamp wires, you will short something out, cause some damage to the box... ( ask me how i know)

it looks kinda like this:

there's a better diagram in the HIDlights.com forum http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/view...761c49fd757abf

i mentioned earlier.. its not that complicated.. but it has to be done right.. even today, i was messing around with my ballast grounds.. sanded the bolt, mount area to get a better ground (just like in stereo/audio work).. It may seem like a lot of trouble, but once you see what HID drivers see. wow, there's no turning back...

tony

edit: just checked ebay... ugh.. where the hell were these ballasts when i was setting up my KIT last year? 200$ !!!!???

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

get a set of bulbs, snip off those d2s connectors, wire to wire.. wow 300$ and your there...

Are you kidding me? Get out of here with that "EBAY kit" garbage. Most of them minus hella and philips are all the same japanese company where your ballast has a life expectancy of a june bug. Those kits do nothing but throw light onto incoming traffic and blind them. Thats why there are projectors that use d1s and d2s and reflector housings that use d1r and d2r such as the cadillac escalade and EXT. And even if you do buy one of those garbage kits, the idiots go and buy 10k bulbs, like that does anything. It is worse lighting than you had stock. You seem to be half-way knowledgable with posting HIDPlanet links, so dont steer these people in the wrong direction. Ask them what they think of those EBAY kits, and you know what they will say....?

GO RETRO OR GO HOME.

EBAY kit garbage? what the hell are you talking about bro? that's a very general statement, one which i did not make... Let me reiterate what I've already written: use Ebay to search for HELLA ballasts.. thats it. * note: I've included two links off of ebay, with Audi ballast for about 200$
and so, I am steering people in the right direction. whats the F--king problem? as far as the projectors, get the GEN3. now what? 4k-10k bulbs is a matter of preference, just because you don't like them, or think they are ridiculous, thats fine, thats your opinon.. i have actually provided some good information throughout the entire length of this topic. and so, you're welcome.

I have the Sylvania Silverstars in my truck and there was a huge difference over stock. I also had the knock off brand in my old Ranger. If HID is that much better I would consider it. I love being able to drive on the dark back roads around here and never have to think about using my brights.
