TRUE HIDs for Mustang

Ive been interested in TRUE HIDs for my mustang for quite some time now. Im not talking about these riceboy H-series kits you see on ebay. Im talking about The true DOT/ECE spec that you see on Lexus, BMW, Mercades-Benz/ Audi, Saab, and the like. Setups like this require a retrofit custom installation using your current mustang headlight.

Here is some pictures of the example im speaking of.

Now at this website they have a wholesale inquiry and was thinking mabye we could get chris to mabye get in contact with this guy and offer it as a product on his website. Mabye he can offer the kit with the smoked headlights that are offered or something, I dont know. Just a thought and would like to see the response and interest. These kits would range from 700-1000 dollars to your door ready to go.

Yes sir, I like those alot. Def. like to have a set on my stang!

02wt5sp 12-26-2004 05:25 AM

I think they're awesome!! My stangs white like the one in the pic, and I love the way they look on it.

Jeremy 12-26-2004 06:01 AM

Nice, but too much for my wallet.

venom 12-26-2004 07:49 AM

What are the hp gains for the HID :tongue2:

killbee 12-26-2004 09:06 AM

Like the look hate the price, I guess I just like to spend my $$ on go fast parts 1st.

donw35 12-26-2004 09:20 AM

one of the last things I would do to my stang, After all the suspension and engine mods, but very cool..

Ghostalker 12-26-2004 09:46 AM

Am i the only one that thinks they make the car look pure evil? lol

NoKturnaL 12-26-2004 10:18 AM

$700 for a pair of head lightz?? YEA RIGHT...They are NICE!!! but I would Never pay that much for ANY headlight..I say these are a no go..Who the hell would buy them?? only people wich GRAANNNDDEEEE Dinero.

fast01gt 12-26-2004 02:45 PM

those are bad ass but i could get so much under my hood for that price.

MattJ 12-26-2004 02:49 PM

Well, with or without you guys, its one of my next mods.
HID lighting is so much better compared to the stock piss yellow lighting. Even with upgraded bulbs it still is ****.

2000 STEEDA 12-26-2004 02:53 PM

wow at the price, man.

But REALLY cool looking

04GTMikey 12-26-2004 03:22 PM

They are def. cool and if you can afford it, go for it. My only concern is that the factory alternator on the mustang might be inadequate for the power required. I don't know much about HID but I do know that they pull more power. Anyway, you may already know this or know that the alternator can take it.

Nofire 12-26-2004 06:09 PM

actually, I'm pretty sure that they require less amps than normal headlights, but they take more voltage. they get the extra voltage from a step up voltage regulator that comes in the kit. But you never know, I could be wrong....They do look good, but I wouldn't pay that price for them.

MattJ 12-26-2004 06:10 PM

It actually uses less power for more output.

svtnos 12-26-2004 08:38 PM

i have the HID system on my car but without the projector(i plan on getting the projector headlights this winter for the HIDs or thought about taking em out and just putting in a set of diamond headlights with blue bulbs..).. as in the ballast takes the place in the stock headlight assembly of the blue bulbs i used to have.. this method is not the greatest.. as the porjector focus' the light to w/e u want to aim it.. HID in a stock headlight assembly as i run right now is not able to focus and light therefore it just tends to light the whole thing up and u have pretty much no way of angling it as to keep it out of the oncoming passer byers... cause these things ARE BRIGHT!!! i think your right about the using less amps but requires alot more voltage..cause when i turn the lights on with the car off they flicker alot and finally even out.. but when the car is running and i turn lights on they pop right on and are prefectly fine...

p3s7_01 12-26-2004 09:17 PM

Your right about the crappy cheesy lights they sell on ebay. I just bought a pair for about 20 dollars and they said that they were the xenon/krypton HID bulbs and when I installed them they look just like my stock lights.

MattJ 12-26-2004 09:32 PM

Even with the higher end bulbs such as Sylvania Silverstars which I have or the Piaa xtreme whites - they arent even close to the output. Ill probably do the full kit within the next 2 months sometime.

Yeah, I could be wrong but a friend of mine works for Ford and says that you will lose voltage with an HID transition. What this means is that it will use power from the battery. He could be full of it because he's only worked as a ford tech for 4 years or so. It's definitely a mod I'd like to do and if anyone has had the HID conversion on their stang for more than 6 months with no problems, please let me know.

Silvr04GT 12-27-2004 06:38 AM

Looks awesome! As perviously stated I think unless you have a lot of cash on hand they probably aren't at the top most people's mod list!

gtnumber2 12-27-2004 07:53 AM

those lights are really nice and our cars need better headlights (imo) but that is pricey.

Voltage may drop if you dont have an alternator. LOL, slap him across the lips for a comment like that. Whats the current draw? Mabye 35a at startup, 10a to keep running.

04GTMikey 12-27-2004 07:12 PM

It didn't sound right to me either. LOL But he assures me that the factory alternator will no longer be warrantied with an HID conversion because of "known issues" with them drawing too much voltage. Anyway, if it works out for you, let me know because I definitely want those.:)

svtnos 12-27-2004 07:35 PM

i run a 140 amp alt... no real problems here.. and as for the price i got mine for a GREAT deal..

Headlights

I have HID Xenon on my wife's Infinti. These headlights are AWESOME, nothing you can do to conventional headlamps can even come close to having the entire HID package. But for that kinda dough, I'll live with the Sylvania Silverstars on my Mustang. :icon_puke

nice find, i have to start looking into these lights more agressively now.

Black01 12-28-2004 11:37 AM

ive looked into them, someone was/is doing a group buy/sell for mustang true hid headlight AND foglight kit, the foglights were only made in a short supply so they were rare, he was selling them for about $300, $600 for headlight and foglights, and i hate myself for this, but i didnt save the link to his page. the company that made it started with a M. ive tryed serching for it with no success.

p.s. TRUE hids use less energy, thats why they are legal, the DOT has a limit on the energy a light can use, not its brightness, thats how HID are super bright and are still road legal.
