my buddy is looking into getting an early 90's camaro. how would that compare to my stang? and is there a decent market for them? the only experience i've had with camaro is the last-generation LS1, and we're all aware of their capability.

3rd gen or into 4th gen?
3rd went to 92, and 4th from then on out untill 2002. I used to own an 89 iroc, they were nothing special. |

3rd gens are noramly slow unless you do an assload of engine work a the lt1 however found in 93-97 cmaaros can be wicked fast with mods, my freinds auto bolt on stock tranny and rear and suspension car goes 13.1@108 with only bolt ons stock heads cams etc....

If I was gonna get a early 90s F-body my first choice would be a 92 Firehawk, but those are rare and expensive. Realistically, a 92 Z28 anniversary packaged car with the L98 would be my second choice. Its rated at 245hp at 4400 and 345tq at 3200. Only down side is that there was not a 5-speed avalible with the L98. You might get a high 14 out of it maybe. If you could find one a 1LE or a B4C car would be a great toy.
This link has all the 3rd gen F-body info. you could want. http://www.phy.duke.edu/~hartley/iroc/iroc_specs.html |

For third gen cars, they are slower than the 99-04 mustangs. If i had the money to put in my 88 iroc, I would go with a zz3 or zz4 crate motor. They are pretty much a direct swap for a 3rd gen camaro. I know a guy who has a zz3 in his 91 and I've seen him roast the tires at 35 miles per hour with an automatic.
A zz3 will scare a few mustangs, a zz4 will roast a few gt's. Tell him to go with a 383 stroker and he'll make cobra guys sweat! |

yeah, about 10 yrs ago i got my ass busted by a guy in a 70 model camaro with a 383 and a 4spd. i didn't know what he had until after he jerked the headlights out of my 87 lx 5.0 5sp. the only mods i had at the time was 355's and an h-pipe.
