Smile work boots

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a pair of work boots for my father who is an electrician; he refuses to tell me anything other than "just buy a pair from wal-mart"... yea, not gonna happen
so, what are some suggestions from some of you guys?
I'm in the IT field so I can honestly say I've never even worn a pair of boots.....
i was first thinking steel toe.... electrician.... good/bad idea???
anyhoo, any suggestions will help greatly

OH, I'd like to keep it under 100$
I know good boots are more than this but im looking for bang/buck

You can't go wrong with steel toe. I don't see where you would need them as an electrician.. but **** happens. Only major problem is they get cold in the winter time.

You can pick up some steel toe Doc Martins for under 100.

my reccommendation is to go to an army surplus store and buy a pair if Linesman boots. They break in nice, wear comfortable, steel toe, meet all OSHA standards, etc.

...don't buy steel toed boots...

S'all he needs is one more thing that conducts electricity on him.

Does he like to wear lace up boots or just the pull ons?

As far as laceups go..when i first started i had a pair of carhartts that were really comfortable..lasted a decent while too.

Also, alot of electricians like to wear hiking boots..more comfortable..

Think my slip ons costed like..$300 I've worn them for about a year now... still holding strong.

My dads had his for 5 years...and he can make them look brand new if he wants.

If you have sensitive feet they are great..

I have a pair of wolverines. I like them. I'm an electrician as well. They are a little heavy though. Maybe i'll try red wings when these ones are done with.

I've been wearing steel toed boots for 20+ years and my last pair were Timberlands. Best dam boots I have EVER worn.. Had them 3 years now and they are almost ready to retire. They have them in steel or non steel toed styles. Arch support built in, and my feet have never felt better.. This is on the concrete jungle 5 and 6 days a week. I'll never go back to red wings, or any thing that cost under 100 bucks.. Mine were 145 bucks, but money well spent. Plus I get 70 buck discount cause I'm required to wear steel toes..
