Default having issues with bodyshop owners....

ok i called a few places and asked to get added to a schedule for prep and paint. well they ask what needs to be done. i tell them i added front and rear bumper and a hood. they ask if its aftermarket. i tell them that if my car had a vin # that matched with a roush then it will be OEM. pretty much they say they cant accept the job because of all the problems that come with aftermarket bady parts. the only thing that will be aftermarket is the hood which will be from steeda or cervini still deciding.

now for you guys that bought bumpers and hoods and had them painted what kind of angles did you pull with body shop owners? i only have a phone to work with here so is there a way i can word things to make them seem that what i did is OEM quality. i know all of the parts i bought will have no problem fitting, but try telling that to a person that has been doing body work there whole life, they wont listen, im not adding some no name body kit. these parts were made for cars that came from the factory.

if worse comes to worse i will have to go home install everything and take my car to different shops and have them look at if before they accept a contract.

im so f'ng pissed you wouldnt believe.

You have to take it to a custom paint shop that does these all the time. The regular body shop doesnt want the hassle since all the ricers with their cheap fiberglass parts have scared them from doing those. When I got my last estimate the shop owner had no issues with the bumper he just said it may cost more to fit since sometimes those parts dont fit perfect like original if its not a ford part. I would try to attend local car shows as there you will find shops that do it all the time. It doesnt have to be a Mustang show could be Import as they like to spend more money on paint and body parts then engine.

i found it, the custom shop that i was told about. supirsingly when i searched for a body shop i used before a subaru board popped up and there were the 2 shops listed. anyways its called Toy Works located in concord. hopefully they can give me a estimate while im home. steeda said it will be cheaper for me to send the hood to them then to my moms house, plus they had issues with my credit card address not matching the shipping address for residential shipments. thats a good policy but not when it works against me. o well

ill have to wake up early and call them. it sucks being 17 hours ahead of the west coast and 13 hours ahead of the east coast. i either have to stay up late or wake up early to talk to people or wait till saturday when its friday in the states.

after my car is done i wont see it till i get to germany.
