Default exhaust leak fix

how do i back out the stock studs for the headers to midpipe flange on the drivers side...im replacing them since i have a leak there i have new studs but im having a hard time getting the stock out

There is a special tool you can get...but last time I checked you needed to take the whole header out to change the studs?

i was just loking at the instructions and it says nothing aobut removing the stock header

Are you talking about where the mid pipe connects to the headers or where the headers connect to the engine?

Thats a pretty tight squeeze. Id let some pb blaster soak in and try to goto town on it with a long extention.

thats what i did for 3 hrs...and it didnt budge!!!!!!

Why are you replacing the studs..are they striped

the existing stud isnt allowing the bolt to completely close the gap...it doesnt matter any more..im ordering a new exhaust soon..im not gonna worry about it...

oh ok ..you could always just put some washers on the stud if you want to fix it

Get a lift and a long extension set.

Its a PITA to get those bolts out.

ive given up..i have worked on it all day and have come to the conclusion of just getting longtube headers!!! Mac LT's, Mac o/r h, and the packs and maybe try to fit in some vt stg II cams
