Comp 270 Cams Video
Sounds slightly different now that it's tuned but still pretty similar.

But I've seen the Cams new for $590 PLus you need Springs so add another $200 and then whatever your shop does labor for.
Comp says you should notch the pistons. For our cars we didn't have to. The Valves do slightly hit the cylinder, you can see faint marks on the piston. But it wasn't enough to bend/damage the valve.

The other guy ran them for 15k, only had a few little makrs when he replaced his shortblock.
If they were to bend just gives me an excuse to get my fox lake 2s for my new shortblock even sooner.

No idea how much power was gained yet. It has a mail order tune, but it should be on the dyno in the next month with some spray hopefully.
As for the valve I'm not worried about my valves or a piston I have a whole new shortblock in the garage and if I bent a Valve it would only give an excuse to get the Fox Lake 2s even sooner.
Not to mention they have been in for nearly 1000miles with no issues. AND he ran them in his car for over 10,000 miles.

Ahhh any piston to valve contact is not good, period. 270's should not contact if installed correctly. They need to be degreed to insure proper clearance. The Comp 278's will not clear without the pistons notched.

Everyone here is right, dude your motor is a ticking time bomb. I had the stage 1 comp cams and they need to be degreed when installed too. To many people read a cam swap article in Muscle Mustangs &Fast Fords or were ever and think there is nothing to it. Trust me I just got my car back from the shop cause I thought I knew how to install cams. Piston To Valve contact is not OK even if its only ever so slightly. PTV puts unneeded stress on the rods and bearings as well as damaging the valves.

just search modular depot there is tons of people who didnt degree there cams on the 270 and up models and have problems. I wont say its a ticking time bomb, just that you should really go back and retime them if its leaving marks on the pistons.
