Autox in the Cobra
Figured some might enjoy this:
Well just got done with my first autox in the cobra. Had 6 runs that day, and had a blast. Put down some alright times comparatively. The car handled great with the new mods, but it needs alot more tire; and I want more seat time! lol. I couldn't get near opening it up all the way with out the back end wanting to lead, lol. Anyways threw together a quick video of 3 of my runs. Can't wait for some racing action this summer.

Looks really good. You have all the car mods you need for a while other than tires. If there is one thing to spend money on for the car it would be some decent tires. If you want to stay in ST-X look into bridegstone RE-11s, Kuhmo XS, and Azeni RT-615s. If you don't mind going to SM get some Kuhmo v710s. Those will make a bigger difference than anything other than the driver mod. Get into every event you can and focus on your technique. Car placement is the biggest thing and you've probably heard it many times before. Brake hard in a stright line going into the turns, we call it earning the turn. If you go too fast into the turn you will ruin it and be out of place. Always be either on the gas or on the brake, so it'd be benefical to left foot brake. The shortest was around the course is usually the fastest, although sometimes that doesn't work with our big, high power cars, let the minis and miatas floor it through the whole course, we can't. If you brake too early, place the car for maximum corner exit speed to help make up some of the time, your not going to make it back up before the turn. Without better video I can't help much. Great job! Do you have a link to a website where the results are posted?

Yeah I agree the car has much much more in it. And the only real way to bring that out is seat time. I will definitely be attending as many events as I can this summer. As for tires, they are high on my list but likely won't have a dedicated track set of tires for a while, as I am saving for a set of rims/street tires first. Also classing doesn't matter to me much as I am just out to have a good day of legal racing. That and I really just want to learn how to drive this car, it is a completely different animal from my auto V6 and I have not wanted to push it much on cool winding mountain back roads much as I just haven't learned enough about the cars handling, hence my real desire for autox, well that and it is just fun!
but yeah here is the local scca website: http://rgrscca.com/results.htm
just click on event #4 if you want to check out how the course played out. I think the fastest time of the day was a shifter cart with 25 seconds. My best was 30.8.....plus one cone...gosh darn thing popped up out of no where I tell you! lol.

Oh yeah I have busing replacement on my to-do list though. But It won't be done till next summer. After all the mods I just bought this summer and my hopeful purchase of rims in the next week or so I should save a little money for school the rest of summer.
