dude. A modded gt racing a stock srt4 with 3 ppl in it. Seems a bit unfair.

 

stock srt-4s are quick, but im with dannyb...put 3 ppl in the gt and see what happens

 

i dont think the gt was "stock". Looks like he had some stuff done to his exhuast.

 

It was a stock automatic, only mods were a cut out airbox and removed factory catback.

 

i dont knock srt4's anymore, bad experience. then again the one i raced was shooting flames out the back every time he shifted and the turbo sounded louder than stock so i think it was little more modified than my gt. it was fast as hell.... but regardless, id still rather be in a mustang than a neon.

 

I think the SRT-4 is a badass car for the price...If I was a young kid who wanted something to haul *** off the lot, than the SRT is not a bad decision, I almost bought one then saw my Stang and couldn't do it.

 

It was stock and an auto!! 3 ppl doesnt make that much of a difference! Did you watch the same vid? He had him BEAT!! If he did/didnt have 3 ppl in the neon he still would have lost, just not as bad; maybe. Not a fan of neons at all! jus my opinion

Cars that have convertible version almost always lose 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times by a few tenths. And thats only added 100-150lbs. 3 ppl are atleast 300 extra lbs. And since the 0-60/quarter mile specs of gt vs srt4 are nearly the same stock, a gt w/ modified exhuast vs a bone stock srt4 w/ 3 ppl in it is slightly unfair

3 people in the srt4, 2 people in the gt. thats only (im guessing) around 180 pounds difference and the gt probably weighs more to begin with so its 240hp against 260hp with around the same weight. it makes sense how that race turned out, the mustang has more hp stock and they were both stock or at least claimed to be.

 

here's my take...the 3 people in the SRT-4 makes up for the weigh difference between a 4 cylinder and a V8.... A turbo'd 4cyl vs a N/A V8...hmmm.... Not too hard to figure out what's gonna kick more **** on that one.... I'm thinkin' the GT will always win on a race of stock vs stock.

 

the srt-4 would be better if it wasnt front wheel drive. it would be better rear wheel or all wheel.

Im with him. SRT-4 arent a bad car. Granted id take a gt over one anyday but for being a neon its not a bad car. Alot quicker then other things out on the market.

 

As of right now the SRT-4 is the best performing sport compact out. They are infinatly better than a Cavalier, Civic, Sentra, etc.

 

I would say that was a pretty even race. Translated into seconds, that GT was probaly only faster to a 100 mph by about .1 seconds. Clearly not a major victory. The GT got the SRT off the line and the SRT just could not make up the lost ground.

 

It said also 3 people.... meaning the GT had 3 people too.

 

Yeah but if your going AWD your adding more weight, thus slowing the car down a bit more.

You would need a more powerful engine (Turboed V6 Anyone?) to really start getting some performance out of that car with the added weight.

Speaking of a Turboed V6 I saw a Evo while I was in my Cobra today. Looked really nice, but then I remembered that I had a Cobra and that was an Evo and I would lose, so I cried.

(if you look closely the guy in the back videotaping turns around at the end of the vid, and you can see a person in the passenger side aswell)

 

Id put my money on an evo or STI over the srt-4...but i was blessed with a mustang!

 

Yeah but I really dont consider a 30K + car a sport compact.

 

Ha I raced an sti with my 96 GT 5-sp and got my *** handed to me by about 3 car lengths. I didn't expect to win, just like I don't with SS's or cobras

 

yeah, evos are pretty quick, my and my friend just finished building a really damn close replica to an evo 3, its even right hand drive and im pretty sure only weighing like 2300 pounds and haveing 260 horses is gonna go fast....just gotta learn to shift with your left hand, lol

 

my friend has an srt-4 with a new exhaust, new intake, and a blowoff valve. i was always hesitant to race him because i thought he'd rip me a new a$$hole. judging by my mods in my signature, and also my car has 91k highway miles, do you think i can take his srt-4?

 

hmm i think it will be a drivers race or he'll beat you consistantly by a car length or two..just a guess

 

he will take you out.. and im sorry but that was not a fair race..my goodness there some massive bad info in this thread.. a stock 03srt and a stock 03mustang gt is a very close race but more handing it over to the srt...and if it's an 04 the srt would win consistantly..the srt's are not a piece of sh*t at all, they're incredible cars.. mustang is a far nicer looking car and i would pick my stang over the srt anyday, but i do give credit where it's due..stock gt's put down around 225-230 stock.. stock srt'2 have been known to put down 230-240 to the wheels in stock trim...srt is not a badcar at all..

 

That driver of the srt-4 sucks, i ride with a kid about everyweekend hes running a downpip and a custom intake he did to make his blow off valve louder and his 03 with about 15 less hp then the 04's will take anything around. This kid is seriously one of the best drivers ive ever seen and he raced a modded yellowstang before it got supercharged and he always won!!
