a catted h or a catted x might not be so bad. never heard of it but the cats may provide some sort of muffling for the loud noise.

Default SLP Nice Sound

Currently I have a 97 GT with BBK full length, BBK H-pipe w/o cats and a Flowmaster cat back. Doesn't sound half bad, but I went down to Jersey by the SLP shop and them stang sound sweet. Some of the best sounding ponies I've heard.

I am going to get slps since I just have welded on mufflers. Part of the reason for going with the slps is the quality of their products, fit and finish.

let me tell you with just the cat back i have others stang tell me that my car sounds great....I love the sound the video clips doesn't do it justice. now it is a little loud inside at first but you get use to it.... most of the noise comes in thru the trunk area... so I going to the local junk yard and buying the sound proof matt from an old luxury car for a couple of bucks and insatiate the truck

WHAT!!!! don't get the sound proofing!! I have SLP's and although they are insanely loud i want them louder. I think if i can hear them in my car...it's doing it's job. Just imagine what it sounds ,like outside! I keep my radio VERY low now that i got them..just so i can hear my exhaust. LOL. hahaha

You are crazy. Let it sound loud outside and when you got the windows down. But get the sound proofing crap. Its annoying on the interstate when you dont care to go fast or have the windows down.

Did you have the X the whole time or get it after the catback install?

I just want to know the diff, cause I already have the CB, and the X is next. Curious about the sound...

i had an uncatted x for about a week before putting on the slp, and it had a nice grumble, but i would agree and say that if you can put both on at the same time, you will notice an incredible difference.

Is an uncatted midpipe with SLPs a good idea? I've heard a lot of conflicting info. Of course, I'm N/A.

i dunno...listen for yourself...

http://www.mustangtuningforums.com/s...ead.php?t=2441

the sound quality is kinda bad, and being only mono(not stereo) doesnt quite give it the respect it deserves. very loud, at certain rpms, it can be annoying, but overall, very nice.

I had my loudmouth on first, then added the catted X later (about 4 months later). It will get louder and more high-pitched. It will go from a loud deep rumble, to sounding really pissed-off...almost exotic. It is really a neat sounding exhaust that will turn some heads. It sounds very agressive.

I would say that on a scale of 1 - 10 for volume:

Totally stock: 1

Loudmouth only: 4

Loudmouth+catted X: 7

Loudmouth+o/r x: 15

Loudmouth+o/r x: 15[/QUOTE]

Thats what I want eventualy, but instead of an X I want an MRT offroad H pipe :evil3:

Im sorry. I should've been more specific. What I meant to say is an uncatted h or x a good idea when it comes to power output and torque. The conflicting info I've heard is
1.) You'll lose a lot of power because you wont have backpressure.
2.) You'll gain a lot of power because you'll be less restricted
