You would still install the rear o2's and then like you said just use MIL's or get a tuner and shut off rear ones in the tune. But I wouldnt use an X-pipe on the v6 as its an even firing motor so thats a kind of a pointless design for it.

Im saying either go true dual meaning no cross over pipe or an H-pipe at most.

 

I could go true duel. Does anybody sell the midpipes so i could just buy a gt catback exhaust to match or am I going to have to find someone with a mandrel.

 

If you want to just bolt things on then a H-pipe made for the v6 will allow you to just bolt on GT exhaust. But it may cost more then just getting a custom true dual setup with whatever muffler you like. Like i said I would look into local shops around you and call and talk to them about getting a custom true dual setup for your car. I would not be surprised if it was much cheaper then getting an H pipe and then a catback.

quick question. if i put one flowmaster 40 or what ever, will it sound like ****? to tired to look up the real number for it. gutta be cheap, my car isnt doing so good, that why im not going dual for now.

I got hooked up with a race car builder and driver and he said he Advised leaving the standard y pipe, so he cut the pipe right back of that and put on a flowmaster 40 with bigger pipe, sounds really good.

 

does anyone have any info on dual side exhaust. Im looking to mkae my V6 a true dual exhaust. I bought headers already, but im not sure if i can use that adapter or if i need to get a midpipe to fit on a steeda gt exhaust. Also i was wondering if anyone had any info on the steeda side exhaust.

 

Depends if you got shorty or long tube headers. If you got a GT catback you have to get rid of your current midpipe (Y pipe) no matter what unless you get the adapter which I believe will work as long as your got the shorty headers. If you got long tubes you will need a shorty midpipe. You will need a V6 H or X or a custom made midpipe or straight pipes to the headers if you want or have to get ride of the Y pipe. Those are all explained in more detail throughout the V6 exhaust thread.

Hello guys.. Sry If I ask this, but I am new in this. Im trying to improve my 03 v6, but I do not know what to exactly buy. Im going for a Mustang Off Road X-Pipe Crossover Kit with a MagnaFlow 99-04 GT Mustang Catback system. Is that a good choice? btw, I have a cold air intake which I believe will help these things. thx

 

If you're going for the off road x-pipe, make sure you're in an area that does not do emissions testing, because you will fail. For catbacks I always recommend magnaflow because that's what I've got, and I really enjoy it. But depends on what you want to achieve sound wise. Or do you think this is a performance mod? I saw how you said you had a CAI, that doesn't change the sound of the exhaust, so that even being mentioned must be for performance. Anyway, CAIs usually free up around 5hp, and exhaust can free up to 15hp supposedly, but I haven't seen one yet that actually has. If you're into performance mods, there are better places to start than exhaust. If not, what sound do you want to achieve? A high raspy sound? Or a deep rumble?

No you need to have a mid pipe that's made for long tubes on the v6 and then you can connect it to any GT catback you like. Mac sells a Prochamber mid pipe that works good with their long tubes.

 

mustang v604 had an offroad h or somethng on his v6 and it was cool at 2k or less rpm, after that i wanted to blow my brains out.

Like most people on here I want to improve my 03 sixer and this will be the first thing I do.

I have somewhat of an understanding but Im still pretty stupid about these things compared to most of you so as far as I can tell its probably easiest to get a local shop to make a custom H exhaust? And I want Borla Stingers so they would then weld that on?

Also, on average, how much does it cost for them to cut out spaces for the exhaust in the bumper to make it look like a GT?

I was thinking about it, but Id have to find one, then get it painted the same color as my car.. it just seems easier to cut it.

I got my exhaust set up for $500~ that was with parts and labor. Then again i didnt get borla stingers so im sure yours will be more expensive.

as for the getting a GT bumper, if you look hard enough you prolly can find a used one for cheap and then have it painted. That's what i ended up doing. Its defiantly worth getting a GT bumper. IMHO cutting your stock v6 bumper to suit the dual exhuast looks like crap dont do it.

I found my used GT bumper for $50 but i got lucky.

see if you can find a mustang specialty shop, and they can guide you in the right direction. find a GT bumper and don't get a custom h-pipe exhaust? why? you're not going to be making any power. i'd get a pypes h-pipe adaptor for the sixer.

 

found this shop in town...this is what they quoted me doesnt sound all that bad

and this is for my 2004 V6

$375 and thats for 2 40 series flowmasters, custom fabricated and true dual. then $80 for the two 18" long 2.5" stainless steel tips.

so total its gonna be $455 tax included, whatcha think

 

I would get different mufflers or even order some online and bring them in. I would also find my own tips cause $80 is ridiculous.

 

Seriously? What the... I think my friend quoted me the same thing, but for $250, $200 without the tips and I think the tips are bigger, not sure. This also includes them installing and I think they said 4 welding points.
