Default 2011 Cold Air intake

Anyone installed a Cold Air intake on their 2011 yet? If so what brand did you go? Did you do it yourself, etc etc? Pictures?

I was thinking:

2011 3.7L Mustang V6 C&L Cold Air Intake Kit - 309.99

or

MMR Cold Air Intake 2011 V6 - 309.99

C&L fo sho. They do way more research than any of the other companies.

Save your money and wait to buy a tuner with it though. That'll be where the real gains are, and otherwise you're just wasting $300 to get rid of the stock box.

ok, I figured as much reading into it.

So my next question is, what about Exhaust? I have read alot of different things about different brands, whats new, what sounds to loud/deep, or to soft. What gives the best performance, etc etc.

Sorry I'm not up to speed on the 11 V6 mods, but I know the Steeda CAI is selling like hotcakes for the 11 GT

For the 2011 V6 I have no idea. I don't know if they have x-pipes or what since they have true duals now.

So I'll treat it as a GT for exhaust.

The best sounding exhaust no matter what the amount of cylinders has always been Borla in my opinion. For the 2011 V6s it sounds almost like a BPU Supra, which is ******* sick.

Borla also offers the most amount of power, which is very little in an N/A application like yours but still.

If you want to cheap out then something like the Magnaflows or some other shitty brand will work. But don't expect near the amount of quality sound from them. Just my opinion here, and it has lots of basis.

Depending on what you have as far as emissions laws I'd look at getting a catted or off-road x-pipe as well (don't know if the 2011s have a mid-pipe or if its just a y-pipe like usual). But if it does have a mid-pipe I'd go with something like lethals x-pipe. Effective and cheap.

Beware, an off-road x-pipe is sometimes to raspy for peoples taste. So a catted x-pipe might be safer for both emissions and noise levels.

PS: FRPP exhaust components are generally Borla, so FRPP exhaust = Borla exhaust.

Yeah, I was looking at Borla and I will probably keep the Cat for emission and not getting to loud.

Borla actually have a new system for 2011 V6s.

Borla Axle-back ATAK 2011 Mustang V6 11792 - for about 699$

Cold air intake:
C&L Performance 2011 Mustang 3.7L V6 Cold Air Intake - $299.99

So, I'm getting somewhere and getting a price range in where I need to be.

My last question for now, sorry pretty new to Mustangs, I do homework, read up but like to get 2nd opinions.

I'm looking at getting the RTR wheels for it. My V6 came with stock 17's on it. The RTRs measure out at 19x9.5. Probably get 255/40/19' tires. Does anyone see any issue with rubbing? etc etc? maybe
275/35/19 Nitto Nt555's or is that to much?

Good luck fitting 255s on a 9.5" wide rim....lol

275s are actually still kind of under sized for a wheel that wide, 295s would be a better choice for a tire width for that particular rim. Then the tire isn't being over stretched to fit.

There would be absolutely no issue with rubbing on that all though, except up front when turning hard it may rub on the plastic fenderwell. Mine do it all the time if I put the 295s on there, but has yet to cause a problem.

With 275s I have no issues rubbing at all. So that may be an easier choice, especially for cost.

Well that's what RTR racing theirself puts on them. They put 255s on the Front and 275s on the back.

Some people put 275s all the way around.

I don't care if thats what they put on them, I'm telling you from a racing perspective that you don't want a tire thats stretched to fit onto the rim.

275s all the way around would be what I'd do. It has no rubbing problems, can be rotated, and 275s are a popular size (corvettes, camaros, etc.)

255s up front and 275-295s in the rear make no sense if you have the same size rim on both ends. Just my honest opinion.

Do 275's all around. It will make things easier for you.

I dont see the point of running different sized tires for rims that are the same size. If the rims were staggered then yes it would make sense to run 2 tire sizes.

I can see in the picture that the 285/35 on 9.5" rim is a little bulged. The 255/40 looks a little stretched. My tires on my Mazda are stretched and I run a 235/40 wrapped around a 8.5" wide rim.

I think a 275/40 will look good all the way around. Especially if run an aggressive tire.
