Exclamation MAJOR PROBLEM

i have an automatic 4.0L V6 mustang, no mods on engine.

If i slam on the gas, from a stand still, and accelerate from 0-60, for some reason my car won't switch into gears and the RPM will go in the red zone?!? the 6000-7000RPM, i'm not an engine person, but i know enough to know that if i get into that zone i could blow my engine!

I have no idea whats going on, wondering about whats going on? how i should handle it? and so any of info!!

(i have pushed the engine pretty hard before so that might be the problem...no idea?!?)

Thanks alot

Do you have a custom tune on the car?

Common sense tells me that if you slam the gas then the engine
will respond accordingly. Red zone won't blow your engine,
especially with no mods. Somehow getting above that zone could
very well get you in trouble. Unless your car won't shift gears during
normal driving your car is fine. Just don't hold the gas long enough to
get yourself into redline...

Ohh, so you have a check engine light? Run on down to autozone
and have em tell you what's going on!

Haha i must sound retarded and unworthy of owning a mustang!

but it only pops on with i hit the 6000-7000RPM and my engine drops the spped from 60 to like 30?? i'm guessing a safety precaution

For automatics the best way to let your car shift ive found is to let off the gas for just a second about a half second or so before you want it to shift and it should. Thats what i do with my car but i try not to hit the 6k rpm band if at all possible.

Ok. #1. Something is fucked up.
#2 Won't switch into gears is because you're going from 0 flooring the car, and expecting traction.
#3 The reason why your getting a CEL may be for various reasons. Perhaps for beating the dog **** out of a stock car and the transmission is finally saying "**** you". Maybe you should have it looked at.

my 00 does the same, i am constantly flooring it, just let off the gas when you want it to shift, should work...now about your CEL go to autozone and have em check it out. Hope this helps and have fun!
