What tuner do you currently have. Sounds like a governor is kicking in.

Stanger Banger 10-26-2009 08:37 PM

i just put in all the stuff in my sig and an old lady owned my car before so maybe she had it programmed that way there is no tuner in my car yet do you think that would solve the problem? because this car fucking flys until 104 where it just like stops at 3100 or does any body have another suggestion?

Deathdiesel 10-26-2009 08:41 PM

Hmm, does it feel like it actually stop you from going above that? And also you need to tune your car otherwise your speedometer is gunna be off. So that might also be an issue although if you know what speed your going then its most likely a governor stopping you.

yeah i can can notice it tremendously because it even does it on down slops it does it exactly at 104 and i no this car can go faster then 120 miles per hour now and 3100 Rpms my buddy has a speed gun we tested it 12 times same exact thing it fly's to 104 then bam wont go any higher rpms

3.8LMustang 10-26-2009 08:45 PM

but doesnt the govenor kick in at 115mph?

i would diff get a tuner...with the help of that ive gone up to 130mph easy...also a little help from the gears

Stanger Banger 10-26-2009 08:45 PM

and also it did this before all the upgrades

Stanger Banger 10-26-2009 08:46 PM

its got no tuner in it now youd think even on a hill it would go faster but it wont and i thought it was 117 the governor kicks in on the 98 v6's

Deathdiesel 10-26-2009 08:46 PM

Yup, governor. Gotta have it tuned, so either buy a tuner or go to a dyno shop. Id recommend the tuner cause you get free tunes for life along with huge power boosts from specific tunes.

3.8LMustang 10-26-2009 08:48 PM

wat all upgrades do u have?

Yup, either that or the livewire tuner. But if you dont wanna spring 200$ more id definatly say ive heard nothing but the best of the SCT Xcal3. Go for it, ya wont regret it. BTW since you changed your gear ratio, your cars top end wont be as high as it would have been with normal gears. But it should be worth it knowing your time getting to that speed is dramatically reduced and besides going 120+ is just stupid..

Stanger Banger 10-26-2009 08:53 PM

alright thanks 3.9LMustang , and death for your help really appreciate it was smoking my friends Audi until he just shot into the horizon at 160 lol and im putting along at 104

i havnt noticed a huge rpm difference with the different gears a couple hundred nothing to dramatic

have uve ran the track yet?

Deathdiesel 10-26-2009 08:58 PM

Yup, if you drive city mostly then youll actually save gas, but if you drive more highway roads then mpgs will go down like 3mpgs at most. Also with the tuner if you really want you can actually ask for a gas sipper(save gas tune) mode or setting in case your wallet seems to take a shot of slim-fast.

Stanger Banger 10-26-2009 08:58 PM

lol i just use this car to play around in i've got a shit truck for regular driving hoping to purchase a slightly used turbo from my friend soon

Deathdiesel 10-26-2009 09:00 PM

Ah, then go for 93 octane power tune. :moreboost: Other than that idk what other tune you would want, would have to ask someone who actually has a tuner. :P ;)

3.8LMustang 10-26-2009 09:02 PM

No, singleport refers to the intake manifold and heads.

94-98 have a different intake manifold and heads than the 99-04

o then yes all Ive done to the engine is just get a bbk throttle body which isnt even doing anything to it lol i had a good start all the others where 15.7

Wombozi17 10-26-2009 09:11 PM

I think he meant your intake as far as the single-port question.....

Stanger Banger 10-26-2009 09:13 PM

the reason i thought he was talking about the exhaust is cuz i pmed him something about a ypipe one abit ago

and there a split port on craigs list for sale with 33k miles but idk if its worth it

3.8LMustang 10-26-2009 09:16 PM

yup if u had a standard then i could understand that ur getting a 14.9....

them 4.10/tlok really help out

u will probably gain like 40hp if you do the split port swap. IMO that isnt worth it :all:
