Default CAI and Throttle Body Question

I was planning on buying a BBK CAI and then a BBK 65mm Throttle Body to my 01 v6. the question is Do i have to get my car tuned in order for me to even feel a little difference when i install these products?
i ask because this one guy told me unless i tune my car after the installations that i wont really get a difference in HP.
is this guy wrong or right.Oh and about how much more HP should i expect from putting those products on my car.any info would be appreciated, thanks.

You wont need a tuner for either. Go ahead and get the CAI, but I wouldn't get the throttle body because you wont see anything from it. Don't expect much from the CAI either, or most basic bolt ons really. If you want noticeable gains, then these are not for you.

I got BBK CAI and i noticed a small gain near top rpms, but agreed to the TB, everyone says wont notice it. No u wont need a tuner but a tuner would help overall and u would prbly get more gains from it than a CAI :P

Only really noticeable gains that I've felt were gears, nitrous, and my tune. Everything else i nothing special, but all together definitely helps.

Did you get the 4.10 gears? i heard that those and a tuner give you at least 20 more Hp,is there any truth to this?

Gears dont add any HP only the tune does. The tune itself will getcha around that. Gears only makes you pull harder, ive heard its the biggest feeling mod youll do besides nitro/forced ind.

Hey DDiesel we both have a 2000 silver V6.
I was going to get some deep dish black bullet rims for it too.

anyways i love my car,i was going to sell it to get a gt but the car means a lot to me.my dad and grandpa helped me rebuild the car a few years ago.

Hmm so i guess im going to try to get a tuner first and then get the gears, then the CAI. oh and i recently found an eaton supercharger that a guy said he had on his 02 gt,would this work on my v6 or would it possibly do some damage to my car?

They sell manifolds to bolt the eaton onto the v6 if you want to shell out the cash for it. But its not a bolt on by any means. CAI are so cheap for the v6 that you might as well just do one even though the gain is very small. Your best mods that you will feel is gears and a tune. However everything together helps make the car faster.

if you want a dramatic difference, 4.10's, a tune and nitrous. You'll be pretty happy with that.

Here is a picture

The TB is between the intake tube and the intake manifold when you hit the Throttle (accelerator) it pulls the throttle cable and opens the throttle up to let in air

It controls the amount of air let into the engine

I have a BBK throttle body because I bought it before I joined the forum I also have a BBK CAI (overpriced)

If I could do it over agian I would have gone with the k&n air filter and the UDPs and saved mysef 200 bucks

Think of it as a carburetor with no gas in it. If you NEED a bigger one then a bigger one will improve performance, if you don't NEED it then it'll improve the lightness of your wallet and not a damn thing else. in general if you don't have a blower, don't bother.

Don't knock weight reduction

But anyway R3D is right our engines have all the air that they really need

Where are you located?? I got a brand new set of 4.10s for the 7.5 rear sitting in my garage that I'm looking to sell. Bearings are already pressed and gears are ready to be installed, just never put them in my car. $100. Let me know if you want them.

Yea id try to buy em off sean if he wants to sell em :P 100$ is a dam good price for gears. You might wanna buy a differential too. along with bearing kit, unless thats what sean meant by bearings.

Cause i have 17s, and i wish i had bought 18s. But instead of buying a whole set it didnt work out too bad, im gunna end up buying 18x10s with deep dish for the back so i got a staggered look. :P
