eclipse beating GT??
There's a chick that goes to our school that says her 2003 eclipse GS beat a 2003 mustang GT. Does anyone beileve this at all? I know i dont, just wanted some opinions on it.

It's not very likely but if the mustang was a stick and the driver sucked it could be possible
I have also noticed that people in eclipses seem to think they are racing someone that is not in fact racing them

There's a kid in my town that says his all stock Talon with an exhaust would stomp the **** out of my friend's built gt. He also asked me if my Mach was a 3.8, I'm sure he thinks he could smoke me too hahaha. I rev at him every time I see him.

The stang is automatic, and he actually knows how to race

There is no possible fawking way. My girlfriend has a 2002 Eclipse GS 5spd (which I drive regularly) and I have a 2003 GT 5spd, there is no comparision....AT ALL. The Eclipse can barely get out of it's own way. She would need a power adder, which you said she doesn't, so she looses.
Edit: I'm actually a memeber on Club3G forum just to hang around and learn about the Eclipses in case I ever have to do anything to my GF's car. The ones with any sense will admit that a GT will always beat a N/A Eclipse, even the six cylinder's. The only close race for a Eclipse is a V6 Mustang (That is a pretty general statement that does not take into many varibles.)

I was going to say Eagle Talons are fast as ****. I drove my buddies in high school all the time. AWD will smoke a GT everytime, even on the interstate. The fact that they only weigh like 2,500 lbs after driver helps too.

My roomate has a 99 GS-X eclipse that has some light mods; i.e exhaust , turbo controller etc etc and my stock (at the time) auto 96 non-pi gt would run all over it.
IN other words, no. The mustang wasnt even racing more than likely

You should totally lie to him, tell him you do have a 3.8 and say you'll give him $100 if he can beat you.

06+ Eclipse GT v6's are quick. Go find one at the track..
Buddy ran consistent high 13s at 96MPH, while spinning the tires off the launch and into second..
Think he could've seen slightly better times if the traction was there.
Mid to High 13s for a STOCK 99-04 GT around here are pretty normal.

I beat the ******* brakes off of an older 94-95 talon 4 cyl talon that some douchebag kid I knew drove, and then I beat a friend of mines...I dunno...98 talon with a CAI. that thing had trouble getting over 80 like a ****. hahaha.\
Shoulda multiquoted...oh well.

eclipse's are slow as ****. They are like civic's/accords/ integra's... they shouldn't even be in the same sentence as fast. My buddy has a 06 eclipse GT and that thing is slowwww. It deffiantly does not feel as fast as my GT did stock.

Feeling and being are two different stories bud.

Your roommate must not have known how to drive. A 99 GSX would pretty easily beat a 96 mustang gt. You can make those older talon and eclipse turbo awd's pretty damn quick. I posted a video of a 600+rwhp cobra at the supra nationals thing getting his *** handed to him by an older talon. But a stock GS model, no. The Mitsubishi 4G63 engine is a pretty tough engine. It can handle close to 500hp on stock internals. Not bad for a 2.0l

what the stangs always had going for them was more torque than hp the 5.0s and early 4.6s made between 205-225hp respectivly (except the cobra) but ranged from 275 to 290 ft lbs the 99+ 4.6 has 260hp 305 ft lbs
most smaller motors even if they can match the hp can't get anywhere near the torque cause for a good amont of torque you generally need displacment
people generally talk about hp but torque is what moves you

The fact of the matter is the 99-04 GT's(stock) vs the 06+ Eclipse "GT"(stock) has less hp and less tq and weighs more. Now commen sense will tell you the power to weight ratio is in favor of the mustang. just my .02
