Default 3.8 - 4.2 F150 stroke.

Okay, dunno if theres anymore threads on this, i searched before i made it. But later this summer when the job slows down, im gonna get a 3.8 and a 4.2 engine from the junkyard down the road. i'm gonna do the whole build. When building the 4.2 just change the crank, rods, and pistons? and that does the stroke? or will i have to buy shorter pistons? I need alotta info on this from someone whos done it, or a website to read, thanks!

SHO is FWD and thus the bellhousing is different and won't bolt to any RWD tranny.

I agree with Spike. It could probably be done, but it would take a lot (A LOT) of time and money and you would not really gain anything. You could put a 4.6/5.0/5.4 easier and cheaper. The Yamaha engines are prone to problems as well.

uh..so wait wtf are you trying to do? go from a 4.2 to a 3.8? or vice versa...regardless..HAVE FRIGGIN FUN WITH THAT just get a little smarter..drop some Gs into this ****, order a 4.3 stroker kit + cam, and have my boy Derek Fricke do your port/polish work on the 3.8 heads/intakes...oh and by the way..i fired mine tonight..and it sounds like its going to eat something, thanks.

You want this **** done right, don't take a retarded short cut I haven't even heard of doing, and do it the right way.

Don't mean to be a dick, but I'd like to save you some heartache bro.

The 4.2 and 3.8 are essentially the same engine besides the different crank, longer rods and pistons.

You wont need to swap any parts to the 3.8, you can just drop it in and bolt everything back up. I plan on doing exactly what your doing this winter, Im gonna do forged internals, cam, H/C/I, etc. with a Eaton M112 S/C on top.

Actually there is a few things your going to need to take off the 3.8 and transfer them over. I just dont know what.
