Default steering knock

When my car is running and parked (2001 V6 manual coupe), and I turn my wheel to the left, right before I max out the turn it pops. You can hear and feel it. Then when I turn back it pops again. Is something loose? Do I need a new steering rack. Thanks in advance...

It could be that you need a new ball joint on for your mustang. On the Aurora, it is probably the CV joints. The Olds is a front wheel drive car, so it has half shafts, while the 'stang is rwd so it will not.
