Default Whats the difference?

Ok so the next thing i am planning for my 6er is dual exhaust. I am looking at getting the dual adapter from american muscle which basically gives u the h pipe. So from there i am not looking on spending another 350 dollars on a cat back so im lookin at the slp loudmouths they have in pairs. Will i be able to put a set of those on and use a turndown for now right b4 the axle without havin to do any pipe bending and is that street leagal. What is the difference between the resonators and the mufflers?

They do not "muffle" anything hardly at all. I can tell you right now its not a setup you want on your car. Especially a daily driven car with dumped LM1's on a v6 or even a v8 is gonna suck in a hurry.

what would you recomend that i could dump behind the axle till i can get it into the exaust shop to put some tips on it? am i right in assuming that if i buy the h pipe adapter i can put it together in the driveway and dump them behind the axle and it will still pass inspections if i leave it the way it is for a while. i figure that the kit is 125 and if i can get a pair of mufflers for under 150 i might can swing it pretty soon after christmas. but if i get the 125 kit i won't have 300 more to spend on a catback system.

im not sure exactly what you're looking for in upgrading your exhaust but in the thread i made thats just below this one, it seems like going to the local exhaust shop and having them run a dual exhaust with no mid pipe is the cheapest way to go

i have no idea about that...but from a $ standpoint the best sound will come from a setup made by a local shop...at least from what i've been told

An H-pipe might make it a bit deeper, but most of that has to do with muffler choice. Also the adapter kit is a weld in item I do believe so I hope you have a welder. And I have never heard of those mufflers till now so I can't say much. Looks to just be another cheap chambered muffler.

Yea the kit can be welded or u can use clamps they supply. My stepdad has a welder if i want to take it over there and do it. Idk hes a pretty busy guy i might just use clamps for now then take it to a mufflee shop later and have them run some pipes over the axle later. Have them weld it then.

what is the difference in the offsets? i know they are placed in different sides of the mufflers or centered, i mean how do u know which one u will need? if i were just replacing the single muffler i would go with the inlet/outlets the same. but what if i am converting to duals how do i know what to get? does it matter if i am dumping them before the axle? and does it change the sound according to the offset placements?

No. Dude if you want to save money go to an exhaust shop tell them you want the Y pipe cut out after the cats, weld in the H pipe, and tell them to strap some mufflers on there and have the exhaust turned down before the rear axle.

I just recently had mine re-done due to some scraping issues.. for new piping it ran me $150 two magnaflow mufflers ran 130 a peice.

Unless you like a high pitched ricey sound IMO magnaflow is the best bang for your buck. An exhaust isn't going to do crap performance wise. Now if you just want sound and don't care about how much its going to cost..borla, bassani..

will the gt stock exhaust line up right on the 3.8l if you shorten the crossbar on the h-pipe? as far as the bends and everything going down to the rear, just modify the distance of the crossbar on the H. i would imaging the gt engine is wider.

I don't beleive it will work due to header placement or something..

Soo, I've got a 2001 v6 with the "H" pipe conversion kit with slp loudmouth ones as a catback setup. Also, the H adapter from Americanmuscle does not require welding. I did the whole install in a weekend in my garage with jackstands. The hardest part for me was getting the stock y pipe cut. At idle it's a pretty sweet tone but when you open it up it's really loud. At cruising speeds it's a loud drone too. It's all personal preference. But the H adapter kit with SLP I's is a good solid kit that can be done with basic hand tools

good luck

Also, the "mufflers" that come with the SLP loudmouth kit are actually resonators. There is no sound deadening material inside them. It is just a hollow piece of piping. The reasoning behind resonators is to "bounce" the sound around inside them so that the sounds waves will actually cancel themselves out while other mufflers absorb the sound waves. Basically, the SLP Loudmouth kit is a street legal set of straight pipes

Maybe this will help:
