SLP does not make long tubes for v6 cars. Also the LM1 catback sounds like crap on the v6. With that out of the way I can tell you that I am almost 100% positive from what I remember that the long tubes for 94-97 cars do work on 98 cars. Also you can run full mac if you want and it sounds good to. Mac makes the long tubes and an H-pipe that bolts right up also. Then you can bolt on any GT catback that you like.

Dustin, correct me if I'm wrong.. But L/T's, especially on a single port motor really isn't going to make any differance right? I guess having a little more pipe to run through could give a little more back pressure.. Hmm.
Honestly, if it were up to me I'd probably just leave your exhaust alone.. The Flowmaster 40's sound good on the single port, that is what I had (tru-duals, 2" piping, 2 1/2" tips) on my '98.. The only other choice you really have that isn't going to be really raspy is spintech, and maybe magnaflow.. I can't even imagine SLP on a 6banger.
