5 speed trans speedo works parrt time new speed cencer still dont work. There is a black box wired into the speed cencer it says ford raceing on it no clue help.

 

This is a little confusing to me. You have a 5 speed and the speedo isnt working all the time and you put a new speed sensor in and it did not help. You also have a Ford racing box wired into the cars speed sensor as well or am I wrong here?

Sounds like the car had gears in it, or still does gears in it and you have a bad box or connection somewhere. I would start off by seeing what Rpms you pull at certain speeds in 5th gear so we can see if you have stock gearing in there or not. What rpm does it do at 50mph in 5th gear.

 

You are right about the first part . I got the car used and this stuf was al ready on it when the spedo works again i will check that out. Also there is a f-40 gorila chip hooked to the throutle body ? Also headers k&n air filter. The guy i got the car from is in the marines it is hard to get a hold of him to ask about this add onstuff.

 

WTF is a F-40 gorilla chip? Can you take a pic of both items so we can see whats going. Also once you get a speed reading at a steady rpm in 5th we can really start to figure out whats going on.

I conveniently ha ve a gorilla chip installed cause I was like "To hell with the SCT livewire chip...sounds like something Id get off e-bay..." And I have that tornado faux turbo/gas saver in my car...and my 96 v6 auto runs 12.05 at the 2 mile track!

I forgot that I have a TB spacer and sumitomo tires that gotta be run flat.

So thats probably why my car is wikkkked.

 

You guys are fun the box on the trans is a recalibrater it fixes what the gorila chip does. The speedo still dosent work maybe i will do away with both and start over so i know what i have. Yes or no.

 

Like said you might have gears installed and that box could be a speedo recalibrator. I would get rid of the gorilla crap and see what happens first. Also see what speed your at a certain rpm in 5th gear.
