Default tuner?

i've got a 96 3.8l v6 that is a standard. i know a tuner can adjust shift points and stuff for an automatic, but is it worth buying one for a 6 cyl. manual transmission. can u adjust when the radiator fan kicks on because mine? mine always seems to come on after when i think it should. what else can it do for a manual?

Depends on the mod.

Most tuners can adjust for gears & tire sizes, but if you're doing more than just bolt-ons, the car will have to be dyno'd to get a proper tune.

I've thought about getting one and just updating it after I get the engine mods laid out.

that makes sense, not much to do with a stock engine huh. saving for a cat back now and then i will get the cai system, then i don't know hopefully by the first part of 09 i will have those two already done. the first thing i had to do was get some new tail lights because my driver side was busted, then i had to fool with the a/c and now i got that going so exhaust is next, got the first hundred tucked away now.

You'll see more gains from a UDP than an exhaust, unless you're going for looks/sound.

yeah, i am wanting the look and sound of a dual exhaust, i know it will not give me much of any performance difference, but that is more expensive so that is what i will save for first. cold air intake and under drive pulleys are definately something down the road.
