Would my stock intake have a more aggressive sound to it if I took the snorkel off?
Would it be alright for the filter?

It would be fine, and possibly nosier since the snorkel part i believe is called a silence. It wont' be more aggressive as possibly develop a whistle that you commonly get with after market intakes.

It won't hurt the filter to pull the silencer. If you pull the silencer and get a high-flow reusable filter like K&N, Green, etc. you'll basically get the same roughly 3 hp increase as a CAI for much less. It will be a little louder maybe, but not much.

didn't notice a real difference in mine, i installed a k&n filter and removed the silencer and did not notice much of anything. in fact i am thinking of putting mine back on because it seems to me that it opens it up to more hot air under the engine compartment. that thing shot down into the fender well and closed off all the hot air that is sitting under the hood.

ya there is really no difference in the temp
ive had my car hooked up to a custom tuner
and its like a 15 degree diff
but when u take it off it is less restriction and the Flow Over-shadows the Temp difference!!!
Or u can goto A/Z and get some of those prebent intake pipes and make your own intake if u really want

you got a link to post? or does a/z stand for autozone? i have seen these in autozone but there is only one size like a L shape. i guess you would get two and some ruber pieces to put the mass air in? have to look into that

i was wandering about the aluminum tubing absorbing the heat because i was looking at the american muscle intake for about 75 dollars. i already have installed the k&n and removed the silencer but i like the look of the aluminum tubing and colored filter.

Yes they do look much better. They only reason why I am going to buy the CAI from AM is because on my previous car, Cavalier z24, I bought a CAI from ebay and it didnt fit nicely I had to do a lot of pushing and shoving just to get it into place and the rubber pieces ripped sometimes. Hopefully this one will go easier.

what he said. a sixer gains no benifits from a CAI, especially a metal one. get a new filter and remove the silencer. save you money for that cobra you need.

i know the benifits are next to zero as far as performance but i like the look of a silver intake when you lift the hood. but the cheap ones are aluminum and is that actually going to hurt performance because the heat absorbsion

i think it just negates the whole "cold air" factor of the intake.

Dont they make the intake tubing out of some other material that absorbs less heat?
I thought I remembered reading about one that was made out of something else, not metal, or rubber like the stock tubing...but..yeah. I dunno what the hell it was.
