I'm Just Curious.
I'm not big on street racing, so this isn't what this thread is about. My friend just traded in his 00 z28, for a 2007 350z. I heard these things, (he has an automatic) only run high 13's at best. Hes not the most skilled driver but he isn't bad. Can i beat him? He wants to go down to the track and make some bets on it. Anyone have any experiences with them, or have any insight? By the way, the inside of those things are so damn cheap! How the hell can they sell those things for 31 grand (MSRP). ???????
Its got 3.36 gears, 305 hp, and it doesn't have **** for torque (268). He swears it'll beat me but i don't see it happening. I wouldn't even consider weight because that little thing is heavier than my stang. I dont see it happening.

I have seen alot of them at the track with full exhaust, tuned,CAi, and other basic mods and most are in the 14's or barely touch high 13's. They just dont have the down low power needed to get that cars weight moving.
If you can launch and drive good you should have no problem killing him. I used to race a guy here when i had just cai,h-pipe,mufflers and would walk his cai, tuned, exhaust car everytime. The key is a good launch and powershifting your **** like you hate it
I wouldnt worry you should have little problem killing him.

yep, whoever is on top of their A-game will win this race.
but go race in him, what's the worst that can happen? He beats you? so what...gives you something to work harder for, so you can beat him next time.
Get er' done!!!!!!!

305 hp??? must be a new for 2007 thing....i've raced so many of them that now none of them will race me....they are pretty but they are a joke on the street scene....i have never had one moment of trouble beating any one of them ever....now...that said make sure its not a q37...they look almost the same but that q37 is a headache...i can not consistently beat them...

hmmm...just looked it up...306 hp....maybe you should be concerned...i havent run into a 2007 350z yet....but the 268 torque is kinda funny...that means it depends on the length of the race.....youre gonna smoke his *** off the line but if it goes any kind of distance hes gonna pass you

get your launch and your 1-2 shift down pat and you'll own him. They're fast from a roll but nothing off the line and they're not exactly svelte ... they're really kinda porky in the weight department. Look at that... 3300+ minimum, figure 3600 race weight with 268tq... he's gunna need to launch it HARD to stand a chance.

yeah, if you race him from a roll your going to have problems. Get him from a dig. I used to race 350z' and G35's in my mach all the time and on the freeway they are pretty tough, but I used to just smash them from a slow roll.

Update: Yeah we went last night. The first race he got me by about a car length because he jumped early. The second race I got him by a length when he didn't jump early. Those things are really quick. Oh well, it was too close for comfort so f the suspension im going with 4.10's and a dyno tune!

ha ha ha...that's pretty funny.

all cars are produced at low cost, but sold at high prices.

We get it. Cars are made cheaper then what they sell them at. So is everything else. Companies wouldnt make money if they didn't raise the price of their products. Look at Nike shoes. They cost like $1 or 2 to make and they sell for $80+. Thats just the way it is and will enver change. Some $30K cars are worth it and some aren't, but people will always buy them.

prime reason I refuse to buy a brand new vehicle.

But anyways, at least the new GT's have leather and ****, and don't look cheap on the inside. The 350z's are all plastic and ****, cloth seats at 31 grand, WTF?

i hate 350z they do look gay. the funny thing i ever seen with them is this guy that lives near my friends gave my dad a ricer fly by with one of thouse. at the next light my dad was next to him with the charger R/t that guy got his *** beat bad.
#25
The raw materials aren't the only thing that factor into the price of a car.
#26
Really. A Charger R/T? I usually whoop up on those things like theres no tomorrow.
#27
mother of god we actually agree on something.

i've heard of the new 350z's running low 13's stock. seen many vids around the net showing this also. it would prolly come down to driver. but i'd have to say they would prolly edge out a stock mustang GT in most cases. and Charger r/t's are slow. friend beat one with his 2005 Ram 4-door (Hemi).
