What does what you spend have to do with anything? You feel better because you put "more expensive" stuff in your car? If so I will sell you a mixture of mud, water, and black food coloring and blend it until it runs well and sell it to you for $7 a quart, should be better for your car because I sell it for more.

Have you read a single word that any of us have typed?

You are WASTING YOUR MONEY on $7+ qt.'s of oil! You don't have a power adder, and you don't have an upgraded engine. Your engine was made to run perfectly on less advanced oils. Mobil Clean 5000 is Miles ahead of anything that was in production 10 years ago (speaking figuratively) and will be perfectly fine for your car. PLUS you will SAVE MONEY!

Look, I have a 2003 Dodge Stratus R/T and I run Mobil clean 5000 for the full life, 5000 miles and it is barely even blackened when I change it.

Go ahead, waste you money though..

Fix the leak and get the right oil. You're just slowly killing your engine putting that heavy crap in there.

Fix it now! What part of "killing your engine" do you not understand? The sooner you fix it, the better off you'll be. Lord knows what shape your engine is in having used that oil for so long. It's like taking sludge, and pouring it into your engine. It's nothing but problems.

A heavier weight oil isn't going to fix an oil leak.

I think that's being just a tiny bit extreme, but it definitely isn't "good" to run that heavy of an oil. Chances are that it's just fine, but due to the factory clearances that the engine was built to it is obviously going to be better to run the recommended weight.

Just do it right, fix your gasket problem and change your oil. Two birds, one stone.
