Question easy HP!!!??

ok as you can see i'm a new guy ( hey everyone ) and i just started working on my 2001 V6 3.8L Mustang and i just want small HP gain for now just minor stuff... so far i bought the V6 Cold Air Intake Kit from americanmuscle.com... loved it and was pretty much my first major buy for my car. so ya if you guys can give me some more tips on how to add a little more HP that would be great!! and no superchargers YET lol something around $200 or less

Get the pulley for your Mustang, a 2001 3.8L. Any other pulley will not work, you will see it in the item description when buying it. Are you Automatic or manual? If manual I'd suggest a new shifter. In addition to the under drive pulleys, a Cat-back exhaust system would be a great upgrade, but it's in the ~$500 range. And as far as the filter goes, I'd just leave the one that is on it. You could put a K&N filter on it but the gain would not be worth it at all.

Gears are a good upgrade too. But that's closer to the $500 range.

ok sweet... well about the filter i got it in already lol but ya i'll get pulleys then since so far thats what everyone is telling me and ya the next upgrade i had in my list was going to be a new exhaust system so a cat-back huh? ok and $500 isn't that much compared to the other ones i saw that are like a grand

The intake system you bought already has a highflow filter so you dont need to change that. Pulleys are a good cheap upgrade for the v6 motor they give a decent result in power. A catback will not give you power hardly at all. Its more for sound then anything else. Go checkout the exhaust sticky at the top and read some on that it has alot of good info.

by the way i don't see any underpulleys in americanmuscle.com for a V6... there all GT and Cobras... are they sold out? or do i have to look somewhere else?

the only time ur gonna see major HP gains is if u go into the engine, meaning heads/cam/intake. u have split port intake, so i'd just get them ported and polished, get a new cam, and some new heads, and u'll def get an HP gain. it should all lead up to a supercharger!!!

hell ya... i'll look into that since i like to a lot of stuff with the engine even though it has nothing to do with gaining HP but i will try and save some more money for those items and sooner or later... a supercharger!!
