auto ?

Default auto ?

well when i race if i stop at the stop light and put it on 1 and then once i hit 40mph change it to 2 then 3etc.. "keep in mind my rpm will not hit 5 i always shift before 5". so I'm i hurting my tran? I'm a auto so there 1-2-d-n-p i have o/d off too.its just a question if i'm hurting my tran i will stop it.

as long as u dont rev up and drop it into drive or something from N....u should b ok for a while. but yes its an automatic. its just wear and tear. if you plan on keeping the car untill your dead then ide stop that stuff.

keep it in drive and just get an xcal. problem solved.

just stick it in D and let it do the shifting, maybe turn of Overdrive though. By letting it shift; the car times it much better then you do and then you can let it take full advantage of revving to the proper shift point. Your not doing any real damage just like dream said, just don't do anything crazy like some Neutral drop.

ok i don't rev up then drop it to d. and or if I'm drive and i just drop it to 2nd i'm about 30 to 40mph. but i don't do this as much

don't be doing that either! Down shifting is a horrible experiance in our cars and puts ridiculous amounts of wear on the tranny parts. It causes excess friction and heat which will ultimately destroy it.

ok I'm going to stop it. and one more thing is it time to change the tran oil or do a complete tune-up on the tran?

not really sure, best thing I can say is pull the tranny dipstick and just make sure the fluid is a clean red color and it should be fine. If you notice the tranny ever acting real weird, then maybe look into it being re-built, but otherwise I would not worry about it too much.
