Exclamation Engine Issue this Morning

Hey guys! Because I'm overly nervous about things like my car *L* I just got it less than 2 weeks ago, in great, great shape. I drive it a BIT heavy maybe, but I don't beat the **** out of the car, I'm very careful with it.

This morning, while pulling out onto one of our main drags, I put the pedal down a bit (alot of traffic coming), didn't floor it, but gave it enough to get up and go.......it seemed like there was no power, my tach went to 5k RPM, then down to 2 and finally started kicking power in, but at a MUCH lower level than I had put the pedal down for. Very wierd feeling...it hasn't done this before, and hasn't done it since, I've had no power issues at all.

Anyone know what this could be? I'm not engine-minded, so it could be something small and I'm just making more out of it than I should be, because I JUST got the car *L* I do have some powertrain warranty left (it's an '04), so if there is something going on, I assume it'll probably be covered.

Thanks in advance guys

ford autos are pretty crappy until you mess with them.

J-mod
tuner
4.10's/T-lock

those will make a world of difference. the stock autos have lag and poor response.

what he is describing sounds more like slipping... the 5k to 2k (unless it was just a shift) really pushes that idea.... maybe its just me....
good luck

Yeah just sounds normal, rather than down shifting it just went into the next gear, or something like that. If you were turning at the same time while laying it down then it could feel even more lathargic becuase of the diff. If the Throttle body position sensor didn't register right (don't even know if that is a plausable cause), then it would have cuased the engine to not act as you would expect.

Yes, actually I was making a right hand turn at the time it happened...sounds like I definitely need a tune and gears for sure huh? That was on my "list", but further down *LOL*

nothing really to worry about the auto tranny is like that sometimes. I know exactly what you are talking about. There is what I like to call a sweet spot on the throttle where the transmission doesnt shift and just stays where it is. Because you probably werent giving it enough gas to need to down shift so it just stayed where it was. Its normal you just need to know the transmission on the car. After a while you will get the hang of it.
