Mustang v6 4.0 / Exhaust
Hey folks, I want to change my midpipe. I have magnaflow cat back with y pipe, and i also have the mac shortys. So I'm planning to get rid of y pipe and either get a x or prochamber. I'm wondering can i get any gt mid pipe with cat and connect them to my 2.5" m. ?? or Should I get the prochamber w/o cats I heard them they are badass.. Anyways if you guys know anything about it help me out..
Thanks

you can't use a GT midpipe without modifications.
Sixers sound like crap without cats, and your cats only take like 1-2 HP away anyway.
Sixers (The 4.0s at least) also don't see any gain with dual exhaust.
If you are still set on dual exhaust, just go to a LOCAL (ie: not a chain like midas) exhaust shop and have them cut your Y and run straight pipes back to each muffler. thats the cheapest and easiest way.

1.) Sixers don't sound like crap without cats
2.) The 4.0L gains more than the 99-04 from exhaust modifications
Anyway prochamber / x / h - Its all about sound. X will give you some exotic / "ricer" sound. H seems to give a deeper sound / and I won't speak about prochamber because I've never heard one on the 05+. I do know the pypes mid muffler system gives the 4.0L a great sound. (I hate pypes with a passion on 99-04)

We'll have to agree to disagree on the no cats thing, exhaust sound is personal preference and you'll never convince me the poppy raspy sound sixers make without cats makes is a pleasant sound, but if you like it then by all means go for it

it's been dyno tested man. justin at vmptuning.com put dual exhaust on his BLOWN 4.0 and saw no gain from it. the stock system flows well and doesn't really need to be upgraded for performance. All it does is change the sound.

My car doesn't make a poppy rapsy sound without cats, maybe its a 4.0L thing? And I'll still say exhaust on a non blown 4.0L will make a change.

I dont know but only thing that i can change is my midpipe. I have catback and headers so i need to find a midpipe that fill fit to my car..

have an exhaust shop cut the y and run straight pipes to your mufflers. the six is even firing so you don't need a crossover
