Default what's the best exhuast system??

Hey...I'm new to the boards. I have a stock 03 V6 and planning on getting a cold air intake very soon. The next thing I want is dual exhuast and i've been reading on here and still not sure but I want the best that I can get: the most horsepower and the best sounding. The only thing I'm not going to mess with is headers. What H or X pipe and cat-back dual exhuast I should get?

Thanks
Chris

well you'll never sound like a v8 it will always have a v6 sound . . the most hp would be the best flow (most of the time) so like LT headers no cats (h-pipe) and choose some mufflers that wont sound too horrible

yeah we have emission laws were I live to so I have to keep the cats. If I get long tube headers will that affect my engine warranty?? If it don't I was thinking about getting the whole works from MAC (headers, h-pipe w/cats, Tru-dual exhuast)

Ford racing headers dont affect your warranty, i've got them on mine and were put on by a ford dealership. Also have an off-road X-pipe with true duals and it doesnt sound like a 6 at all, i've always got compliments on it and people always stop and ask what exhaust work i have done like a guy did tonight who followed me home to find out b/c it was louder than his '03 gt.

Do you mean 2 1/2" pipes cause 2 and 3/4" is kinda big.

I was thinking that 2 3/4 was big too. Would I be alright if I went with 2.5 or is that still to big? I really want a Flowmaster system but every where I look they don't make it for my year (2003) so i have no clue what to do. I would just go with MAC since they got the headers and h-pipe and tru-dual system for my year but I don't know how MAC sounds I haven't found any audio of them.

Default emission laws?!?!?!

ok people on 96 and up vehicle we dont check ur emissions. all we do is hook up a computer. there is no sniffer stuck in the exhaust. all takin the cats off and puttin long tubes on will make ur check engine light come on. unless you either get mil eliminators or get ur headers drilled for the 02 sensors. best to go with mil eliminators.
and mac mufflers are the best sound ive actually heard on a six.

i was planning on getting the h-pipe with cats. How would it cost to get a muffler shop to install headers h-pipe and dual exhaust if i provide all the parts?

i own a v6 i changed the exhaust about 3 times
first time it sounded soooo bad, second time i put on side daul exit exhaust..,h pipe,,,borla mufflers ( you can find this at fordracing),,,,it sound little better ,,but no power,,,so i went back and bought long tub headers, x pipe,,,and steeda mufflers,,,,now it sounds and more flow..about 16 extra hp
and i love it

Default headers

Is long tube headers what gave you the extra power? I would like to get them but my money is tight so I will probably just go with MAC H-pipe w/cats and the MAC dual exhaust. But I've got a couple of months to think about it and would still like to hear what MAC system sounded like.

Well I finally got a job so now I'm gonna pay off my dad b/c hes been payin for my bills since we moved and I didnt have a job and then I'm gonna save for an exhaust system I dunno what I'm getting yet. Is 2.5 piping to big? b/c if it isn't I will go with MAC and if I don't like the sound I guess I could put Flowmaster 40's in place. Also do you guys think its worth getting the cold air intake first?
Thanks
Chris
