Default H Pipe?

I am new to the boards. I read through every thread having to do with exhaust but still need some help...I have a 2001 v6 mustang and I am looking to run a true flowmaster catback exhaust...after listening to the videos on youtube, i decided i liked the 40 series mufflers the best....now from what I understand I need an H pipe to run a GT catback system...but I am told from someone at american racing that I shouldnt get the H pipe and to run "straight pipes" didnt exactly understand, I thought you HAD to have an H pipe to run that kinda exhaust system...

Straight pipes just means 2 separate pipes running from your exhaust manifold straight to the catback. They never crossover into each other, unlike an H pipe where the pipes are connected thus allowing the flow to go between the two.
You can do either, and have true duals.

No straight pipes means no mufflers just pipe from headers or stock manifolds out the back with no cars nothing and sounds like crap. If you get the x or h or whatever mid pipe setup you want on the v6 then you can use any GT catback.

If I were to get that H pipe...I dont understand how that works with the cats? I dont want to buy a catted h pipe from MAC if I dont have to they are pricey. But I def want cats on my system....Can I buy two high performance cats and just weld on to that h pipe?
