Default Trim Panels

I was wondering where people bought their Trim Panels from and how much they cost because I think it would go really well with my mineral grey stang. I was also wondering if they are all Honeycomb or are there other types.

I dont think the GT emblem would be a major issue and if it comes down to it and its a must have you can probably just buy one or something but I want to know if anybody with a V6 has a trim panel or has had a problem with this.

I found an emblem that fits in the hole for the gt emblem but it say v6. It costs 30 bucks but if you want to keep your v6 pride its worth it

i have that on my car, sort of...i painted that area on my car black. Paint + sand paper + clear coat = $15, honeycomb = $170 yikes....only downside to paint is that it is difficult to remove, but if you are definately set on the look, then paint it and save yourself money.

$170 makes it almost seem like its not worth it but I like the look a lot. I wonder if I or someone can just paint that area black or something for less...

You can do it yourself. All you need to do is go to autozone pick up some 800 grit wet or dry sand paper, A can of Duplicolor Gloss black or Flat Black automotive spray paint, Blue Painters tape, and a can of Clear coat. You will also need some newspaper.
To start, just give the back area a quick rinse to remove any large amounts of dirt
Tape off with blue painters tape the upper part of where you are painting. Basically run a piece of tape right by where the key hole and 3rd brake light is, so you dont' sand too high up.

Then take sand paper and a bowl of water, wet the sand paper, then start sanding the area you are going to paint. Rinse the sand paper occasionally to get the most life out of it. Sand until the clear coat(shine) is gone, and the sand paper is turning the color of your car.

Now wipe that area down with a dry cloat, until it is 100% dry.

Tape off the whole back end of the car with newspaper, and painters tape. Also be sure to tape off the licence plate lights, wouldn't want to be painting those.

Now shake the can of paint up well. Follow the directions on the can for how to spray it onto the car. Probably will need 3 good coats. After it dries for 30mins - 1 hour, apply the clear coat. Do 2-3 of these. Let dry for another 1 hour. Remove tape and newspaper slowly and carefully, so you dont' damage the edges of the paint. Wait 10~ mins or so between coats.

All done, good job!

I too was scared painting something on my car for fear of totally screwing it up, but if you take your time and follow what i said you can do it just fine.

All right sounds good thanks and I thought you meant you just painted the area where the gt logo would go. Thats why I said that, didn't know you painted the whole thing. It looks really good, I'm not a huge fan of honey comb anyways. Thanks for the help again. I think I'll try and do it this week end. I was also wondering Mustangv6 if you painted the black part on your bumper as well or is that the roush insert?

The lower thing, is the roush vinyl insert off ebay. It's great and all, but just paint it since you will have all the supplies from painting the Trim Panel.
