Default rear end

Hello all, it has been a while since I have posted.

As summer is coming up, I am planning a rear-end change for my v6. I am wanting 3.73 gears, and I have a couple questions.

First of all, the v6 stock rear is an open differential, correct? I am wanting to change this with my gears, to a locking differential. What do you guys suggest as my best option for doing this. I thought about scrapping a GT rear for my car, since it would provide more strength and because it is near impossible to find 7.5 rear parts. If I did this, would I need to get the quad shocks for the rear axle also?

Let me know what everyone thinks, and is possible, provide links for parts.

Thanks,

Evan

You dont want a locker on a street car you want a posi. If you look on ebay you can find many used and new Ford 7.5" posi (ford calls them T-lok). Must be for a ford 7.5" rear end. That with a set of 3.73's will really make the car take off out of the hole.

just get a cheap one with alot of miles, as a clutch rebuild pack is 40bucks for that posi and very easy to install.

So there is basically nothing I need to worry about in getting a used t-lok, as the clutch would be the only thing that would affect the performance?

Let me know if you think this is a good deal... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...6253840&rd=1,1

Thanks, I greatly appreciate all your help.

Yeah you can buy new clutch packs for the posi and have the shop install them when they do the gears. They shouldnt charge you for that if they do it should be cheap as its only a 30mins job to do.

So the miles on the posi dont really matter.
