does anybody know anything about painting calipers because i just got my new calipers for my car and bought yellow paint however im not sure what the process is and if it willt turn out ok. Because i only bought front calipers it wouldnt be to bad to paint them but would i have to take of the back ones to paint them or could i just paint them on the car. Also if i dont get it spotlessly clean is there a chance that the paint will peal when i hit the breaks because i want them to look good in 5 years. Also what part of the calipers do i paint or is that my opionion? Any advise from people who have experiance with it would be great, or if u just know what your doing let me know, thanks

make sure you do multiple coats of the paint and you should probably clearcoat it if you can

 

what would i use to clearcoat it when im done......and ive heard alot of people say its better to take of the calipers and some say just leave it on...does it really matter or can i just leave them on

 

I'm not 100% sure what clearcoat you would use. as long as it can take high heat and some abuse it should work. It can be easier and you can do a better job overall if you take them off, but you don't have to. in my opinion if you are going to take them off you should just have them powdercoated, as that will definitely last for years with no problem

 

If i could redo my i would take em off. but i bought the spray on caliper paint. and didn't take mine off but they look ok. but they could be better. but still look good

 

well I would say dont take them off b/c then you get in to the brake fluid and the brake lines etc not something you want to deal with.

yeah i used spray on caliper paint. would it be worth it to still go with the paint on?? or will there not be that big of a dif??

 

The spray is not as glossy as the paint. Its worht the time and effort. I will post the picks that i took today in the other thread

ya as soon as i get my car up and off the jack stands ill take some pictures. I just have to do some undercoating while i have it up there. Give me tell saturday and ill post them

 

also if anybody knows the tork specs for brake calipers, that would be helpfull., im really not sure.
