Default Starting Fluid

Hi - First post here and excuse my ignorance. I know that there has been talk of problems starting a car after storage. I also have a problem where the car will turn over fine but not start in the last 2 months of storage. I was able to run it weekly prior to that. My question is can I spray starting fluid in the throttle body or is this too dangerous? I think it is getting gas as I can smell a little after cranking the engine over for awhile. Thanks.
