Wife was at McDOnalds the other day and the car just started "sputtering". She brought it home and I took a look at it and it sounded like it was missing something awful. Service engine light was on, so I took it to the parts house this morning and had them check the code. Guy says it was showing 3 cylinders misfiring. Went to Autozone and got new plugs/wires and installed them. Took a listen and it sounded a little better but not much. Took it back to the parts house and had him check it again. Now it is only showing 1 cylinder misfiring. So I am now baffled. Could it be the coil pack? Any other suggestions?

 

i'd love to know. i'm having the same problems with my 97' cobra. only diference was my cat on the side of the misfring cylinders was glowing red hot!

 

Turned out to be a broken valve spring.
