Default 95 V6 Clutch Replacement Questions

I was wondering what the size was for the clutch, PP, and flywheel? I thought I heard that they were 11"s, but I wasn't sure. I just had the clutch take a dump on me tonight and am going to be in the market here soon.

I was also wondering if the flywheel, clutch, and PP from my 96 GT would possibly fit. I know they are different transmissions and such but I am just grabbing at straws, seeing as how it is right here around Christmas and money is a little tight, because I have my stocker setup from my 96 that still has some miles left in it if I can put it in as a temporary fix. I know some engines require an offset balance or whatever for flywheel, and the 96 has a neutral balance so I didn't know. Plus, the flywheel is a 6 bolt. I don't know if the 6er takes a 6 or 8.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need this one back on the road, as the motor just came out of the GT today. Damn the luck....

Alright, so I got a 10.5" setup but it is from the 96, which has the T45 tranny, so any idea whether it will work or not? I am guessing not, but I am hoping....

Also, I looked up online at Advance Auto Parts and they show an 11" clutch for the V6...

Teal,

I know you chimed in about the eBay clutches in one of my other threads.

How does plan sound..

I go ahead and buy a SPEC flywheel from here (AM), and then, since it has the 10.5" option, I can just bolt up my stocker clutch and PP from the GT. That saves some money for now, seeing as how that is my goal right now. I can then just change out the friction material later on when that clutch needs to be replaced.

Also, just so I am clear, if I get like the SPEC flywheel where I can set it up for the 10.5" clutch and PP, I could get the King Cobra setup from here (AM) as well, which is on sale for $169, right? I am assuming that once I have the flywheel, which would be balanced as necessary for the V6, I could use any 10.5" setup.

just get a stock clutch

Unless the V6 is moderately to heavily modified the stock **** is fine...

Go to NAPA... they'll take care of you... and save your money...

Well the stocker 11" is going to be just as expensive as the plan I just laid out. AM has the deal on the King Cobra, and it would need a new flywheel anyway. The one on it has already been resurfaced at least once.

i dont know why your going through all this trouble with flywheels etc.

I literally bought an OEM clutch kit on that came with T/O bearing, PP, and clutch and i had it SHIPPED to my door and it totaled 120$ (thats with shipping)

I used it with my stock Flywheel and i ran 300whp with that clutch for over a year before i took it out, and when i replaced it it still looked great!

Well for one, I could tell a difference between the 10.5 and 11" clutches between the V6 and GT and would rather go with the 10.5. Also because I am looking at it as if the flywheel is ****ed up. I heard some weird noises going on in there as it was going out on me, so if it needs to be resurfaced, might as well get a new one instead of risking it through at least 1 other resurface before.

Not trying to be rude, but I am looking to see if my understanding of how these parts work together is correct. I am going to go the route that is best for my situation. If you know if what I am laying out there will work, tell me that. Don't criticize my decisions. I want to know if I buy say the SPEC flywheel from here that accepts 10.5" clutches, can I use any regular GT clutch setup, say the King Cobra, since it is the cheapest around but yet still decent quality.

After a teardown and inspection today, I don't think that the clutch is necessarily the problem, although it is worn and I will probably go ahead and replace it while it is torn down. The pilot bearing and the TOB are completely f***ed up. The flywheel looks ok so with money being tight, I see no need to replace it right now. My dad called the local Advance today while I was at work and they have the complete clutch setup in stock in the store so in an effort to get the car back on the road before we leave for the beach on Sunday for Christmas at my grandma's, I guess I am going to go that route, keeping the 11" clutch.

I would still like to know for sure that any 10.5" clutch setup will work on a V6 as long as you have a flywheel that accepts them.
