cattilac converter ?
i have a 02 auto stang, im looking for a better sound, so far i have put a 40 series on and i was wandering if i take off the cattilac converter, will it still run. the guy at meineke says no, but my friend that owns his own mechanic shops says that it has nothing t do with the engine runing.

lol yes, you can run your car with no cats.. but it will trip the check engine light until you have the rear o2 sensors turned off. It may also make it more difficult to pass emissions tests if you have to take them.

its not legal in most states (if not all) to run without the cats.
Removal will give you a raspier sound, personally i love the sound of a catless car.
All they do is help reduce polution. If that idiot you talked to truely thinks that a car cannot run without catalytic converters then he is a ****in retard, plain and simple.
I certainly wouldnt let Mongo there work on yer car.

I have no cats because well, I live in Kentucky.. why the hell not lol. No e-tests here, never been pulled over and almost had them off for 2 years now.

Your lucky. Im in NC and this year will be the first emissions test for my mach. So I'll have to put my stock h-pipe back on to pass.

There's no e-tests here in Ohio unless you get pulled over for loud exhaust a few times and they check under the car. I'm planning on a new exhaust this spring and I'm toying with the idea of no cats. I don't know if that would make a sixer sound more rice or not...

here cats and mufflers are mandatory ... no cats and no muffs...you don't pass smog..
Listen to your friend that owns/works at the shop..
You can take your exhaust off at the heads and still run..
