Default is the gt rear end worth it

When i get gears done in a couple of months, will it be ok to get them for the 7.5 or should i wait and get a gt rear end. Also ill be getting a tlock when i do this cause i dont want to have to get one later. But because a gt has a tlock and a larger back end will it be a waist to get my 7.5 done? I will be getting NO2 in the not too distant future so i want to be sure my axels and gear box will be able to handel the tourqe. thanks.

honestly since it sounds like you will be working up to bigger HP and Torque numbers i would hold out and get the GT rear end, and then get some gears for that. I believe the 7.5 will hold, but the GT would be a much safer bet.

If you can get your hands on a good GT rear axel assembly (maybe a junk yard) and can do the swap or have the money to get it done then go for it. I tried to swap mine out for an 8.8 and it ended up being more trouble then I could see it being worth. I just swaped my gears and put in a T-Lok. The 7.5 should be able to handle nitrous(at least for a while) since you probably won't spray anything more than a 100 shot, unless you really wanna work on the engine.

I'm spraying a 75 shot with a FRPP t-lok and FRPP 4.10's in the back or atleast I was LOL until a couple nights ago...Yup blew up the rear end. Don't know exaclty what went yet. But if you stay 7.5" go with a detroit tru-trac instead of the weak FRPP t-lok. Also look into a TA girdle for the 7.5". The detroit tru-trac is about 450ish I think and the girdle is 150. You should be good to go with that. I'm thinking about a 8.8 swap though. Then I'll spray off the line with slicks...maybe LOL.

for 450bucks you can get a used 8.8" from a yard dont bother with that much cash on the 7.5" if your gonna to push some numbers.

Me too LOL. They're opening it up tomorrow to see for sure. Car still drives it just has a very loud clunk coming from the rear. Hopefully I can find a GT rear at a junk yard or something...
