Anything from wal mart sux. I've tried the 3 way 6x8's in my old 02 GT, also tried some 2 way Pioneers in my gf's car. They a little better than factory treble and midrange, but they have nooooooooooooooooo bass. I'm not talking, "bump" or anything, just noo bass to even out the midrange.

Walmart has some ok headunits, I personally wouldn't buy a thing from my local stereo store, they are D-Heads, I would buy a fred's dollar store stereo before I went in that place, anyways what im getting at is sounddomain.com , they have pretty good stuff and you can catch a deal on there sometimes, and the service is excellent

oh and most headunits dont have enough amp in them to push a good set of 6x8 or 6x9s, get a amp for them even if its a cheap-o

My pioneer (NOT A CHEEPO CHEESY DOLLAR STORE HEADUNIT) has more than enough amp to power my 4 6x8 pioneer speakers...

The local audio shop said I wouldnt need an amp
My bud told me I wouldnt need an amp
and my brother told me I wouldnt need an amp...

so my advice is to go to yer local audio shop (unless ya have good reason not to, thats yer business tho)
and ask them for their opinion
(by local shop i do NOT mean a radioshack... a local, non corporate small business)

or make a friend who is knowledgable w/ this stuff...

IDK jack**** myself... lol... but my bud has tv's in his headrests in his lincoln as well as a ton of speakers, tweeters, etc etc etc... so i took his advice...

im sure you got real good advice with those gay azz taillights and F**ked up wheels...........................

its ****ty advice because

1, you told him not to go to a local stereo shop.
2, told him to go to sounddomain.com...
3, most head units dont have enough amps to push a good set of 6x8's or 6x9's ??? well not if you're using them for subwoofers no, but you should really change them out for 5x7's which fit in the same hole and sound better for midrange. get some real subwoofers in the back...
4, get an amp for them even if it's cheap?!?!? thats horrible advice... plain and simple, no reason to discuss any further.

Ok so whats the RMS power output of your headunit and what is the recommend RMS power of your speakers......... go ahead , look it up dude........you wire them series, parallel? 2ohm 4ohm 8ohm????

It turns to smack, when you start dissing someone response...... yes your 6x8 or 6x9s will work with a headunit BUT unless your headunit puts out the proper watts, the speakers arent't going to be as clear at high volume......you will get distortion, who knows your headunit may have enough to push your pioneers,

Example: JVC headunit : 52watts x 4 max
22watts x 4 RMS

Pioneer Speakers: 420watts max
nominal 80 watts

22 watts rms isnt going to push nominal 80 watt speakers very well, you can get alot more out of them by adding a amp that can push 80 watt rms to those speakers............ the result.........better quality and less distortion

If you need to know ohms law and wiring speakers in series or parrallel, let me know, I can get Technical on this subject Ive only been doing stereo systems for over 10 years...............

1.he can go to his local stereo shop, I just wouldnt go to mine
2. There is nothing wrong with sounddomain
3. Most head units dont, when you turn them up loud on 6x9s your highs, mids will be distorted " thats if your rms wattage doesnt match up good to the speakers, noone said anything about using them for lows
4. if you can get a amp to push your 6x9s with the right rms power then it will sound better then a headunit that isnt pushing with the right rms power...........the result cleaner, better quality music
