Beef
Just out of thought if I wanted to beef up my next set of tires what could I do for my stock rims?I know everyone says 245/45/17 but I just want a little more meat. I've been looking at the Kuhmo MX because I dont want to go DR but I want a sticky street tire

I've heard good things about the MX's. 265/35-40?/17 would be fine on stock. Idk aboue 275 however, and not sure about the sidewall. I have 245/40/18 on 18 inch rims so I would thing 40 would still be ok for 17 even tho your wider.

275/40/17 is the perfect size.
It does bulge a bit but not to bad at all. he really should try a pair of drag radials cause without them he is gonna be sad about those 13's at 113mph. Eisen i got mine used for $150 from a freind with only 3k miles on them and tons of tread left. Go find a used pair and give them a shot. I think you would be alot happier with the traction.

They hook the best but last the shortest amount of time and are the worst in the rain. For a daily driver iwould try a set of nitto drags. They last the longest and are the best int he rain. Downside is they dont hook like the BFg's or the M/T dr's do but they are still TONS better then a street tire. search around boards like www.fuelslut.net www.linktrek.com and other local boards to find someone close to you with a pair used for sale.

just get some 275/45. they look a bit bigger but you will get used to it. they hook a lot better too. i only had my 275's on my stock rims for about 10k miles i made some videos of me drifting my car around with my friend in his TA. in front of my moms new house i left some nice rail road tracks in front after i installed the blower. if you drive conservative then they will last a good while. they are still bald and im going to use them when i hit the track later this month.

I had the Nitto DR's and they were ok. There are too many downsides to those tires though. They dont handle near as good as a stock tire. There is hardly any traction in the rain. I didnt feel much more traction. I have a 300 treadwear now and it gets just as good traction on the street. The only place you will see improvement is at the strip. Also, they are small for a 275. Look at M/T DR's and you will see that the Mickeys are a good 1 inch wider than the Nittos. Both 275/40/17.
I didnt buy another set of Nittos. Id rather have a long lasting sticky street tire. Ill be going with either BFG's or Goodyear F1's this summer.

i find it hard to belive your tire hooks as good as the nitto, i know i have nittos and i have had lots of street tires. Once you heat the nitto(hell even cold) they hook way better then a street tire does.
Do they handle worse? of course its a tire made for drag racing, but i have no problems going around corners at speed with them. Also i hear alot of talk of those tires being bad int eh rain mine are great they were only bad once teh tread was gone and they were slick.
