Tire Question
Hello, I am a new member and I am looking for some tire advice. I own a 2004 Mustang Convertible. This car is stock so far. I have just purchased a set of 18"x9" Bullitt Wheels. I am looking for advise on the Maximum tire size I can stuff under this car. I would like some sidewall buldge, so the wheel does not look like it is sticking out. I would also like the Maximum side wall height I can get, I really don't like the small sidewall look, It makes the wheel look larger than it is. The local tire stores only go by their book recommendations and are not very helpful.
Any help you can give me, would be greatly appreciated.

Are you lowered? If not, maybe this is true, but if you are or plan on getting lowered I would be weary of getting the big of a sidewall. I bought my car used and it has 18x8 chrome all the way around. My tire sizes that came with the car are 245/40/18, but the tires are some cheap like japan tire i think. Anyways, the sidewall says it is 40, but it looks more like 30, lol. This is just a cheap tire tho. All tires are different. I would say nothing more than 40 as a sidewall, 45 sidewall's are usually stuck for 17 inch rims.

Thanks for all the advice. My local tire store is willing to do a test fit of tires on the wheels. I'll let you know what side wall I can get away with. it appears that most of you are correct, a 40mm side wall may be it. We are going to try a 45mm sidewall also. I may switch back to 17" wheels, the shop stated I would have alot more choices in sidewall height. Thanks again.
