Tire/Rim Question.

Tire/Rim Question.
I have a convertible red 1990 Mustang with stock 16in rims. I'd like to go up to a 17in rim.
And this is what I want, tell me if it's possible:
Front:
2 NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 Tires (275/40-17)
Rear:
2 NITTO Extreme Performance NT555R Drag Radial (275/40-17)
Rims:
4 Chrome 2003 Style Cobra Wheel - 4 lug 87-93 (17x9)
All I need to know is,
Will the tires fit snuggly with the 17x9 rims?

17x9 is a little bit of a tight fit on the front of a fox (I'm betting you'll rub on really sharp turns like flipping a bitch and such). You might drop to a 17x8 in front and use a 245/45/17. Otherwise looks good to me. 275/40/17 is the correct size for a 17x9" rim so no worries there. I wouldn't bother with drag radials in back unless you're racing. No need for them on the street and they wear out sick fast. The regular 555's are a fantastic tire IMO.
That wheel will look badass on a fox.

Will it really be that much of a rubbing problem in the front?

1990 Mustangs came with 15" wheels the 16 pony wheel did not show up until the next year along with a revised plastic ground effects piece that gave a little extra clearance.
You may or may not rub on the front with those sizes at full lock turning left or right. When you back up it will change thigns just enought hat you might rub a tire on your ground effects just a little. Nothing major or easily visable.
You will be close to rubbing on the rear and you will have to remove the kicker shocks. If you rub it will be on off camber driveways and such.
I know for a fact that 255/45ZR17's fit on 9" wheels on all four corners on fox body convertables because my friend ran them for years. They fit and look really good.
