Default Find out rim size?

IM trying to find out how wide my rims are. They are stock 2001 GT rims. 17 inches tall i know that. Im getting new tires soon (cus one of my tires has a GIGANTIC crack in it, im suprised its still inflated :violent1: ) and i want to get 275/40/17s all the way around. But i want to make sure my rims are at least 9 inches wide...should i just measure it with a ruler?

They're 17X8, like Damon said, but I run 275 BFG drag radials on mine. They fit, but they bulge pretty bad. I would stick with 245's for a street tire on 8 inch wide rims.

Sorry, I don't have a pic of them.

you could always grab yourself a set of 03/04 cobra wheels and run the 275's......

Some of the stock rims actually measure at 7.5 inches wide.

Looks like time to shop for some rims - he he he

my 01 wheels are 17x8 and my 275/40/17 tires fit fine and don't bulge much. the 275 tire is only 1/2 inch wider on each side than the 245 size.

if you use a bfg brand drag radial its wider than the nitto. i use bfg 275 on the 17x8 and theres a big bulge, i think next ill try the nittos, and spin like crazy all day.

Same here...but since I only use the BFG's at the track (I have an extra set of matching rims), I can deal with the bulge...I'm hooking perfectly.
