I need to get some new front tires. Found a good deal on some Pirelli 255/45/18's. Will they fit my 18" saleens? I see that most people recommend 265/35/18 but a good deal is a good deal. What do you guys think?

I currently have 245/40/18's on my 18's. The 255 will fit fine but not quite as full. I'd be more worried about the 45 sidewall than anything.

i have BFG 255/40/18 on my 9" fronts. Fits fine. 45 shouldnt cause any problem, slight chance of rubbing, but it all depends on the tire brand.

your speedo will probably be off a bit with that tall of a sidewall.

so then I should probably stick with 35 or 40? How much difference would there be on the speedo?

40 is perfect. 35 is a little short. 45 adds a full inch to the tire height. That's enough to get you a ticket in strict areas. it'll vary directly as a percentage of your actual speed.
