Default question on offset steering rack bushings

I personally don't think very much of them, however I have them for my Granatelli crossmember in my 93 FOX. One of the first things I noticed was that the rack bushings really don't index on anything, they just hang out on their own. I was thinking that might be OK for an drag racer but they don't look too solid for an autocross or roadrace car. Secondly, the crossmember is not dead nuts square and the aluminum rack bushings seem to be placing undue stress on the rack itself. for this reason I'm thinking of going back to delrin or stiff rubber stock type rack bushings and using a bumpsteer kit to solve the issue with the spindles.
Any input?
