UFC and WEC thread..........
I didn't see this and thought it would be a nice addition to the sports talk section. I am into MMA, not as much as I used to be - mainly because of too many injuries when I was younger -god it s**ks to get old. But I figured I am not the only one that is into it and figured that it would be a great idea.
Also who else is waiting for the game to come out. From what I have seen it will be one of the better titles for the PS3.

Do any of you guys participate or compete in MMA? I did quite a bit of participation for awhile when I was younger. I still train with a few of my friends but never want to do it pro, for me its just a hobby like cars that I enjoy and I still do plan on getting back into it once I get my arm fixed.
What are everyones favorite fighters?
Here is my list (in no order):
UFC:
Nate Diaz
Matt Hughes
Anderson Silva
Michael Bisping
BJ Penn
Forrest Griffin
Georges St. Pierre
Matt Sera
Rich Franklin
Nate Quarry
Randy Couture
Chuck Liddel
Yeah the last two guys might be old and one no longer fights in the UFC but these guys are still great and you can't take the great accomplishments they have away because they are old and they are part of the reason this sport grew along with Gracie.
WEC:
Uriah Faber
Rob McCullough
Jens Pulver
Others:
Renato Sobral
Robbie Lawler
I know, I love to watch the under dogs or the guys just starting out.
I know I have noticed something and was wondering if you guys had also. There seems to be a lot of fighters fighting in multipal different groups like the UFC and others at the same time. I know from what I have read and stuff that a lot of them do it because they use it as more of a experience or training purpose. I also noticed a lot of the big name UFC fighter are going to smaller orgainization eventhough they do really well in the UFC.
I just realized also that it is less than a month before the game comes out!

How could ANYONE like the diaz brothers? I ******* hate nate the most, that little lispy gangster wannabe. But yeah. That silva and leites fight SUCKED. If thales leites wasnt such a ******* *****, it would have definately been a good fight. But....theres absolutley noone in that weight class that can beat anderson silva right now. Hes the best pound for pound. I also cant ******* believe chuck let shogun ******* knock hit out with that punch. It was so slow, and coming from a mile away. Chucks washed up. He needs to retire.

Ok, yeah, but the fact that Diaz isn't maybe the most likeable doesn't have anything to do with the way he fights, what I judge fighters on is there skill and he does have a decent ground game and the ability to be an overall decent fighter. Also yeah, Chuck I think is getting older but I still think he has it in him to be great again. Looked at some of the other pro atheletes that have made great comebacks. I think that these guys go through the same thing that most pro sport atheletes go through.
I most definately agree with everyone on Anderson Silva being the best pound for pound fighter in that weight class. I think it would be very interesting to see him try to jump to another weight class. I just saw the UFC 97 (a friend DVRed it or t-voed it) - the Silva fight was not what it was hyped to be that is for sure.
