Hey, I was curious if there were any fellow NASCAR fans on these boards?? Would love to talk about a sport I actually enjoy a little more often.

What were some opinions about the Atlanta race? And can anyone stop Johnson?

..opinions

I'm a long time fan of Nascar myself, but having worked 7 days a week for the last 5 months i haven;t been able to watch much racing.

The COT car sucks from a fans perspective, plus most of the drivers hate it.

Sundays Atlanta race was awesome for the last 20 laps, as it was for most of this whole season. You gotta give Johnson the nod for a 3rd championship. He knows how to drive that POS new car, and I like the way Edwards was actually devastated, but very impressed that he didn't gain any points on him. He didn;t even know Jimmie was passing cars every lap for the last 10 laps.

Great race, But it's getting boring. And Nascar has announced there will be no rule changes for 09. I think they should change the qualifying line ups if it's a rain out. Let them draw a number from a hat or something. Don't start them according to the points.

Anyway, I still love Nascar but I just don't get to watch it as I wish i could..

To me, in regards to the new car it's alright. Not the most attractive thing around, but it's reliable. I like how they're able to take a few shots in the new car, and still be around to give the guy who did that to them a few shots himself. That's one of the things I absolutely hated about the old cars, if you scrape the wall you're done. If you hit the wall at all, not only are you done but they old cars had a tendency to pancake the front ends. I'm not into that, I'm in it for the racing. And that's another place where I the COT has done well. You know how "loose" everyone was on Sunday? Almost "Seesaw-ing" the steering wheel? If it was the old car every single one of them would've been in the wall and done.

And I'm really looking forward to the COT in the Nationwide series late '09 mid-'10. Even the idea of Camaro vs Mustang or something like that sounds sweet to me. Maybe it's not a real mustang vs a real camaro but it puts the classic manufacturers rivalry back into the spotlight.

NASCAR fan is not I. I like the technology of the cars, thats about it. I usually watch the races for 5 minutes while flipping through channels. I do like the road courses. I'm just not a left turn, left turn, left turn type of person. Technology of the sport, I like that.

I would like to see NASCAR go back to being about the driving and less about making everyone happy. Those madatory pit stops and yellows are killing NASCAR.

Still a fan, but not nearly as much into it as I used to be.. I can't stand Jimmie Johnson or Chad Knaus, JJ is full of himself and Knaus is a huge cheater all I can do is wish horrible luck on him for the next three weeks.

Absolutely hate the fact that Kyle did so well throughout the whole season then just fell apart in the chase, it's really sad honestly. He's an arrogant little *****, but he can back it up in that car.

The new "Nationwide" car is looking sweet, plus the prospect of "pony" cars is AWESOME. Something people have been begging for, for a looong time.

mandatory pits are stupid but caution flags are for safety.

Mandatory Pit stops? You mean like Atlanta a few months ago? Goodyear's crappy tires were flying apart every 20 laps, they had no choice there.. Someone would have gotten hurt running off into turn 1 at 205mph blowing a right front would have been baddd..

La debris' cautions are really starting to **** me off though.

Hoosier tires FTW! I love them, we run them at our local track and I've never seen them do bad. We've run them on our old late model car since the beginning and they grab well and last forever. Even when the Camping World Midwest Series came through, those tires lasted forever. They could run all 250 laps on one set of tires, it was great. I completely agree with what Tony Stewart said after the spring race at Atlanta. Goodyear can't get it right, and they need to leave the sport. Some other company like Hoosier is who we need in our top series for the best results.

My husband got me hooked on NASCAR many years ago. I'm not really a die hard fan or anything but I love fast driving and there is alot more to it that left turn but you have to know the drivers and teams to get what's really going on. My husband and I go to the Bristol night race whenever he is home and that has always been a great weekend. I don't watch too much when he's not here, it just sort of depresses me to much, so I'm kind of behind on what's going on this year.

Starts with Newman winning the 500, Kyle Busch wins a ton, Carl Edwards wins a ton, Mark Martin announcing a full-season with Hendrick next year, tons of driver swaps planned in '09, Chase starts, Johnson prevails...unfortunately.

Yeah, but Aric's already been in it most of the season.

I sincerely hope that Brad doesn't do that... That would really suck, look at what that car did for J.J........ Logano, the supposed wonderboy couldn't even get anything out of that car, what is Coleman going to do in it?....

Same here it gets old fast, also the cars are pure race cars and its not nearly as cool as the old days when they were hopped up street cars that you could buy. I would rather watch SCCA racing any day.

Just thought I'd revive this to let everyone know about this Sundays race in Vegas. It's the Shelby 427 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the pacecar for the event is none other than a classic Shelby 427. So for anyone interested tune in to Fox at 3:30pm ET this Sunday.
