Default Destroyed an LS1 with an 03 GT

Yea I was on the way home on a nice day and I spotted a silver 2000 Camaro SS a ways in front of me. I caught up closer to him and saw it looked pretty modified. It had chrome ZO6 wheels, had some companys sticker on its window, and it sounded really good. I downshifted and let the pipes sound off to see if he was interested, but he just looked at me like "yea right" so I pulled in front of him. He then passes me pretty quickly and he turned to the onramp leading to the interstate. I followed him since I hadnt sprayed the 100 shot on anyone yet. We raced from a 50 roll and I saw "LS1 POWERED" on the side of his car as I was passing by. I pulled 2 cars on him within a matter of seconds then I passed him to move for an upcoming car in my lane. I stayed the speed limit after that but he never pulled next to me. I guess he was ashamed he just got beat by an 03 GT that looks absolutely bone stock.

He used nitrous as it says....good kill but if he had the nitroushe would have wasted you vice versa...he must have been mildly modded or a poser with a bunch of stickers on his SS.

I have beaten the guy around the corner from me, he has a newer trans am vert, but I know the only reason is b/c he's a crappy driver (and probably gay since its a vert). I'm still proud of myself though.

one of my good friends has a 35th anniversary ss and he's a pretty good driver, i can beat him any day. i've also wasted two trans ams (neighbor from a roll and a friend from a stop and a roll). i've never had a problem with ls1's.

i used to have them listed in my sig- upr x pipe, flowmaster catback, sct chip, lightning mafs (i know i dont need it but i've stated before it was free so i put it on, sounded better so i kept it), cai, and the guy who owned it before me did a little bit of engine work (the guy at the dealership knew him). it sounds like he did cams because it has a bit of a lopey sound. also 315's with sumitomos on back. i tried to get a video clip of the sound but it didnt come out good. and no i dont have a track slip or any dyno pulls. the nearest track is an hour away and always crowded. it might go on the dyno this thursday.

crappy interior asside, I'd take an LS1 Camaro over an EVO, SRT-4, STI, or any other "sport compact." If I've got to drive a "tuner style" car, gimme a supra, sky-line, twin-turbo RX7, 3000GT VR4, or anything else that isn't a built up version of a crappy car. Atleast with a Camaro, I wouldn't be all talk/hype. People seriously underestimate those cars. They are quick and consistent and with the exception of a weak rear end, able to handle quite a bit of power. I'd never trade my stang for one but if there were no stangs, I might drive one.

Nice Kill on the Camaro, a win is a win. But in all honestly it must have been bone stock and or with a less then stellar driver. A proper driven light bolt-on LS1 could put the hurtin' on a bolt on GT even with a 100 shot especially on the highway.

But again, nice kill.

I raced one on the highway a couple of weekends ago from a 45 mph roll and damn I knew from being a former SS owner that they were fast but geez that guy smoked me very bad.It was far from stock.
